Am I the only one who thought Roy Kramer was dead?

I'm not confusing him with Slive, either.

I have liked it all the different ways. I actually like the BCS and it has definitely served LSU well. The expanded playoff will be a tournament but of this season was not witness there is a concerted effort to keep the SEC forming having two teams in the playoff. Yes they probably got it right but I cannot imagine a year where there are not at least two possibly many more teams in the SEC worthy of being in it at the end. This opens it up. It will be more games and more fun for us as fans.

I think it hurts Bama, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State. Recruits can now pick other colleges knowing that 12 schools have the chance to play in the playoff. There will be less players "opting out" of bowls. From a fans perspective, there are now more games that mean something in December and January.

I don’t see how making it every year will hurt those teams…

I would be ok with that if they removed one regular season game. It would still be 15 games if you won your conference.

and that's fine. but we need to quit acting like them playing 1 extra post-season game (if they're top-4) is "detrimental" to the sport. because it's not.

They need to shorten the regular season to 11 games.

Four is the correct number for the CFP. Two or more losses and you don't belong in.

I've always believed 8 should be the number, the 5 Power Five champions with undefeated non-PF teams and at-large to fill the last 3 spots. Every major conference gets a shot without diluting it too much.

It’s a double edged sword. On one hand the playoff may cause a national champion worthy team to be upset but on the other hand it may allow a national champion worthy team that say had a QB get injured for a game or two causing a loss that otherwise wouldn’t have occurred a chance to redeem themselves when they wouldn’t have made a 4 team playoff.

Like anything, there are positives and negatives

4 team playoff using the BCS formula for rankings would have been perfect.

12 is gonna crush the regular season unfortunately.

4 is honeslty perfect and has worked wonderfully so far, so if expansion is to be forced down our throats I think 6 would be the next best palatable option. Give 1 and 2 a bye and go from there.

And auto-bids for champs is ridiculous, there should be no automatic anything.

Assumign that should be "worthy" he's exactly right and anyone with common sense can see the same. This is about money, plain and simple and nothing more.

I've noticed that a lot of Georgia fans are against playoff expansion. A team with a history of dropping games they shouldn't would understandably be scared of playing more games I guess.

You talking about Bama in 17, 18,19, 21 and 22?

I've felt the same way my entire life, or at least as long as playoff expansion became a topic. it has zero to do with beinga uga fan and everything to do with logic and common sense. If after 13 games you're only ranked 10th, you've CLEARLY done enough wrong in the season to have lost your shot to be a champion. That's a pretty simple concept.

Now that bama isn't the big boy on the block I guess you gotta take your shots when you can

are you too dense to understand that if a 12 team playoff existed in the 21st century we would've made the playoffs for 100% certain in 2002, 2005, 2007, 2012, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021, with chances in 2003 and 2008 as well? As a team that until recently has always been "really good" but not elite an expanded playoff would have HELPED uga to an incredible degree.

What is going to suck is Michigan hosting a first round game in December. Maybe the first chance a team ever gets to play in snow.

Your post is more accurate than you think, Mr. War Eagle! It's kinda hard to describe how the freezing temperatures, combined with nasty wind, can let you know how tough you are...I touched base on this in another thread, too.

Picture an sec team playing in freezing temps, cold windy, harsh...and they hit that 80 degree locker room at halftime! In most cases, that's gonna be CHECKMATE, IMO!

The issue is, with a 68 team basketball. A team with 15 losses could get in and get hot.. and I grew with the sentiment that isn’t it just a tournament champion.

However, we currently have a 4 team playoff that is rewarding some teams who play weak schedules with semi final berths .. are they really good or just play awful schedules.

The 12 teams will eliminate the pretenders before the semi finals and we will finally know who the best team is.

Pretty sure if Bama got into the 12 team playoff this year at 10-2 and win the title, no one would be saying oh they were just the tournament champion. They would be 14-2.. that’s pretty damn great if you ask me.

At this point the worst record to get this year would be a 10-2 Washington, assuming Uthah loses to USC again and would drop below them.

We aren’t talking about having 4 and 5 loss teams, playing for the title.. we already had LSU win it with 2 losses. The old way.

With the auto bid for p5 champs you might be and you are certain to get 3 loss teams.

I always wanted 8 teams. The champions of each Power 5 conference, Group of 5, and 2 at large teams.

This year you hypothetically get Georgia, Michigan, TCU, USC, ACC Champ, Group of 5, Bama/Tennessee, Ohio State.

Blah blah blah “it hurts the game there are only 4 deserving teams” STFU.

Why even have 4 then? Go back to BCS with 2 or just stop having title games altogether. That’s how it was before and that’s what “made college football so special!!” Quit bitching and moaning about an extra game somehow “hurting college football.”
