Glenn Schumann as a HC

Think he’s one of those coordinators that will have, if he chooses to, easier and quicker success once he gets to a program of his own if you look at the schools he’s stayed at and been to. It’s either been at Alabama under Saban or Georgia under Kirby smart, both for roughly 8-10 years. Venables was at Oklahoma forever and then was at Clemson forever and then became a head coach, although the results haven’t been ideal.
I feel like Glenn stays at Georgia max 2-3 more years and then Arkansas comes calling after firing their current coach.
Schumann was a director of player personnel from 2014-2015 at Alabama so he has familiarity in the more administrative parts of being the head of a program. He’s a fantastic 2nd half coach as well which you can tell by any box score you look at. Only reason he had so many problems with Saban I think is because Saban was just a 2nd half DEMON.

I think this seasons defense is going to do a tremendous amount to boost his standing as how he is seen as future HC material
This is by far our best and most talented defense since the 2 national championship years and will be seen as one he is finally mostly responsible for since people like Muschamp have left the building.
I personally dont think he will be as good as Dan Lanning as a head coach but teams would be much smarter and better off by hiring either sitting p4 coaches at lower tier schools like Brohm or Dillingham or OCs or DCs from the tier 1 schools in the country than they would be if they keep going to the G6 well which is proven to mostly be a futile endeavor outside of unicorn exceptions like Cig and his coaching tree

Maybe he just wants to wait until Smart retires and take his place?

Wanted Auburn to look at him when we hired Freeze and this last coaching hire.
Tired of the offensive guru HCs

Dan Lanning been kinda a bust for me at Oregon I’m ngl….he wholly benefits from the booster scene and schedule and then gets to the post season and gets CLOCKED.

Schuman isn't the DC I thought he'd be after Lanning left. Hope he gets a Lil better tutoring under Smart. OK so far but we'll see...

Eh doubt he would want to be waiting that long and im not even sure if we chose to hire from within he would be the 1st choice

Hell no. He's a DC under a defensive coach.

I would love this.
I don't think UGA fans are expecting anything longer than this season.

I don't know...I think having records of 10-3, 12-2, 13-1 and 13-2 over our years as a head coach is pretty good.
He's 2-2 in the playoff and 2-0 in non-playoff bowl games. I think that's pretty damn good for a coach in his first 4 seasons.

Lanning is a fraud
He’s just a rich man’s John Dumrall
Rah rah con artist type coach
The difference is Lanning inherited a program in the rise from Cristobal while Dumrall is at a dead program in Florida
And in the modern era Oregon is a much better job and easier to win at than UF
But overall Lanning is just all brakes and no gas

Somebody will hire him because hiring a coordinator from a dominant team is what ADs do, but how much of it is him, and how much of it is Kirby?
Kirby's lost several DCs to head coaching gigs now, but the defense still rolls.
That being written, he was born in Winnersville (Valdosta), and both of his parents coached at Valdosta State; so, he is bound to be a winner.
