Spot on. The I-65 corridor north of Birmingham is exceptionally nice. Say from Cullman up.
I have always sid that if I have my complete choice of where I want to live... start in Athens AL and follow the AL-TN, TN-GA, GA-NC, and NC-SC statelines and stop just before you end up in Charlotte. I want to be within 75-100 miles of that line.
Always near the mountains and lakes, not too far from nice cities (Huntsville, Chattanooga, north Atlanta suburbs, Athens, Anderson, Greenville, etc. are all nice places to be. And you could legitimately include Nashville, Knoxville, Asheville, and Charlotte as well based on the criteria). Never more than a few hours from nice beaches. Great industry, technology, and low costs of living. Southern hospitality. College sports.
North AL and headed east is God's Country, in my humble opinion. Quite an underrated place to be.

Houston is by far the nicest city in the South. And yes, Southeast Texas is Southen. Not “Deep South,” but definitely Southern.
And if you want to talk about the Civil Rights movement, President Johnson says hello. Perhaps you missed those 5 years.

Houston is by far the nicest city in the South. And yes, Southeast Texas is Southen. Not “Deep South,” but definitely Southern.

Georgia insect infestation is a living night mare: billions of nats, big red felt looking ants that you can’t kill, , millions of roaches of all kinds including the flying kind out of the azz. I grew up there it was awful!!!!! So no Georgia is not the best State in south!

Just let them think that Birmingham, atl, Bessemer, etc are all great cities. Actually you know what, Houston is a terrible place! You should never ever come here! It’s so awful. There is nothing to do, no major sports teams, no great food scene, I mean there is jack shite in Houston. Do yourself a favor and never come here.
