What would it take for Kirby to be on the hot seat? In comparison to a coach that has seen massive success, I never thought Dabo after two NC titles would be practically hated at Clemson. I mean he has the 2nd most CFP appearances, and although he hasn’t sold his soul to the NIL devil, he created a monster of a program that nobody wants to see in their schedule. If Kirby doesn’t win another NC in a few years, will there be rumblings in Athens?

“Practically hated” . . . Oh, yes!
At Clemson? No way.

I’m not sure where you’re getting your information but Dabo is revered at Clemson.

Kirby will stay as long as he wants to be there. That doesn't mean there will never be internet "rumblings", because the internet is populated by trolls who try to talk things into existence. Fortunately, UGA is not likely to pay them any heed. BTW, any comparison between Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney is trolling, IMO.

There have been a TON of don’t want him anymore, not keeping up with the times, etc.. talk about Dabo. Even ESPN talks about it. He’s not near as liked or wanted as he was several years back.

Dabo isnt liked because he has fallen WAY below winning another NC, not because he hasnt won one.

Georgia and Clemson have more patience for their National Championship winning coaches than LSU does.

It embarrasses me as an LSU fan how much vitriol our messageboard fanbase has fordevery coach that has won us a national title.

They even hate Dietzel because he left to coach Army.

I don't understand it.

The last two were "clowns" who nobody took seriouly and made us a laughing stock. So the moron Woodward goes and hires a "respectable" coach that they proclaimed "finally have an adult in charge".

It fricking backfired.

LSU is not the place for an uptight mentality. We are most successful with "quirky". It's our culture.

I think it’s a fair comparison. Compare their coaching records, NC titles, CFP appearances, etc.. there very similar with Dabo even leading in several categories. He was the coming of Jesus several years ago. Won 2 NC and beat Bama for one of them. The difference is he’s tapered off since 2018 and winning his last title.

Wise words.

If you get your information on fan bases from ESPN, I understand your perspective. It’s not factual but it’s an opinion.

You say that, but then you have to look at Gumps.

There was a pretty big contingent of the fanbase that were calling for Saban to move on because he "didn't have it anymore".

LSU had a decent contingent of the fanbase saying the same thing after 2004. "He lost his fire after winning it all." They were happy with him going to Miami.

All it takes is one mediocre season and the grumblings will start. After that one season, it'll just get louder with every season of not winning a NC.

He set the bar for himself. If he doesn't get over the bar every couple of years, he'll lose the fanbase and it'll be "time to move on.. The game has passed him by."

I addressed your concerns in my first response. There will be rumblings and grumblings about every coach, every school, every year. Of course there will be "rumblings" about Kirby Smart. Some of it from idiots who don't know a great coach when they see one, but most of it from UGA's rivals who'd love to see hiim move on. The only relevant question is whether UGA will pay them any mind. The answer, IMO, is no.

I agree. Kirby is not going anywhere unless he wants to move on. The only way I see him leaving is if he feels like he can’t continue having the same level of success he desires. He’s too good a coach.

Kirby currently has the SEC's last two national championships. Only Bear Bryant and Saban had ever done that before (not saying Kirby's success is in the same category as Bryant or Saban). Also has won 3 out of the last 4 SEC titles. Only Spurrrier and Saban had done that in the last 40 years.

Now he's a victim of his own success, and anytime Georgia loses a game these days it's a big deal to the fanbase. The Georgia board becomes unbearable. But those people are irrational, and the only way Kirby ever gets fired is if he's caught naked with a live boy or dead girl.

If something does happen, I'd probably 2030. That's when his youngest graduates high school. If Kirby was to make a life change and say frick NIL and frick these spoiled fans, it would probably be then. And at that point he'd either go to the NFL or retire to Bainbridge and coach the Pine Tree Prep Rebels' junor varsity basketball team.

That is a Louisiana saying and we would appreciate if y'all would create your own relevant saying in Georgia.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I will have to strongly disagree with you on this one. Georgia has finished ranked #2 and #3 in the last two final CFP polls.. The year before that, Georgia statistically had a historically dominant team. The team stats stack up to 2019 LSU and 2020 Alabama. We just lost the wrong game at the wrong time to Alabama, because Saban had mind control over Kirby.

FInal CFP poll ranking in the first three years of the supoosed "decline"

Georgia

2023 – #6 (was damn near unanimous #1 in AP poll heading into SECCG)
2024 – #2
2025 – #3

Clemson

2021 – #14
2022 – #13
2023 – #20
