2002, my senior year and after Goff and Donnan this was monumental as a program.

Honestly 2011 L to LSU. I drank so much I only remember the first half and we had the lead despite the fact that they were demonstrably better than us. We’d have had a bigger lead but foolishly punted to Honey Badger at the end of the first half. Had a great time tailgating with LSU buddies.

That's actually my least favorite SEC championship.

You could tell LSU was toast. That offense had absolutely nothing.

It is a fun stat though. In 2011, LSU won the SEC Championship over Georgia with the fewest passing yards in the history of that game. 11 years later, LSU lost the SEC Championship to Georgia with the most passing yards in the history of that game.

What a fun thread, thank you for starting it. This is a toughie, almost like picking your favorite children.

2022 is probably last on the list. It was fun of course, but there wasn't a lot of drama either in the game or regarding our postseason fate.

2005 is porbbaly second to last. We jumped out early and the game was practically over by the start of the 2nd quarter. This was one that was really special for DJ since he waited his turn for 4 years and finally got to start as a senior and he went out on top. Gave richt his 2nd SEC title in 4 yeras which was great.


2002/2017 are tossups IMO, they are just wildly different vibes around them.

-2002 was the drought breaker. Not only had we not won the SEC in 20 years, we had never won the division since its inception until now. We had a headscratching WTF loss to UF but were on cruise control ever since. This was undoubtedly the best season we'd had since 1982 so a loss would put a massive damper on it. We hadn't played in a postseason game of this magnitude since proabbly teh '92 citrus bowl against ohio state. Since then it wa sa lot of no-bowl seasons, outbacks, or peach bowls. To finally be in the game, and in the dome no less, the excitement was palpable in the building. We blocked a punt on their first possesion and scored quickly after, then scored again on our next posession to go up 14-0 out of the games and that was that. This was both a sigh of relief and a shout for joy at the same time. Bama (posteason punishment) and LSU both would've provided otugher tests probably but I don't think anyone was beating us that day.

-2017 was a very different feel. Winning the east and the SEC wasn't new at this point. But similar to 2002, we only had 1 loss on the year and it felt like we were so close to a REALLY special thing but it could all slip away and be for naught with a loss. Of course there was the added bonus of this being the first ever cross-division big6 rivalry game to rematch in the sECCG. We'd just gotten wallopped by AU a copule weeks beforehand so there was a ton of uncertainty going in, unlike in 2002. This game was also quite a bit closer than 2002 and still had tension through 3 quarters. But in short order we would 1)block an AU FG, 2)passing TD to godwin 3)swift backbreaker TD and it was out of reach. When swift turned ever so slightly upfield after passing that final block and turned on the jets that was about as fast as Iv'e ever seen a UGA palyer run on the football field. Simliari to 2002, this provided new highs previously unseen as it secured our spot int he playoffs for hte first time, in only kirby's 2nd season

Too close to call between 02/17 but both will be rememered for a lifetime, IMO.

2022

Probably 2017 for me.

2002 I was a little young but I do remember it being a huge deal.

2017 was pretty glorious. A few weeks after getting embarrassed by Auburn we ran away with it in Atlanta. Lots of confident Auburn fans going into it which makes it a little sweeter.
