how many yards DID Manziel get on us at the end of the game? i was constantly catching myself thinking "thank god he didn't explode out of that and get 40 yards again like last year."

To be fair he said only 5 or 6 teams could beat Bama this year, the rest...well Bama will have to beat themselves.

Perhaps Bama should take a break from patting themselves on the back long enough to give thanks that A&M decided to play the 2013 season without a defense.

Fair, but Danielson is paid really good money to offer his opinion. It's easy to disagree with any opinion, just saying... he can't pander to both teams' audiences perfectly when he's discussing a game where one team won and one team lost.

I hate the whole "beating ourselves" idea. It's such a fricking cop out. When you get beat, usually it's because the other team forced you to make some mistakes, because that's how sports work.
So say Bama gets beat later this year, and in the process, commits a few turnovers. Some ignorant Bama fans would claim that they "beat themselves," taking away credit from the other team. In reality, the other team probably pressured them into those mistakes. It's not just Bama fans either, UGA fans tried to pull the same shite after USCe 2011.
If you bring your B game and get beat by a team that brings their A game, that does not mean you "beat yourself"

I agree that Alabama has excellent shot to win the NC again but I place this team behind last years team and also the year before

This Bama team is the most athletic squad they've fielded. People have an unrealistic standard for Bama as if they're players can't make mistakes or have learning pains. Bama has a lot of youth on this team and it showed at times against A&M. Bama was far and away the better team against A&M.

I like Danielson, but he likes to hear himself talk.
Watching that defense, I'm not sure how he could say that. Yes, they won't play another player like Johnny, but their D mirrored aTm's - that ain't good. Especially with all the planning and off week prep time that was involved... The end result was good though.
