FSU Decline is insane

FSU is 2 games over .500 since 2017. If Bama beats them they will be down to 1 game over .500 in the past 10 seasons. There was a time that seemed impossible

Are we sure Bama will win?

Stop. I can only get so erect.

Heard on the radio this morning that the FSU athletic department/football is 437 million in debt.

Yes, 30 years ago. That's a loooong time in CFB.
It'll happen to us too at some point, which is why I try to force myself to really enjoy this golden era. I can only hope that our downturn isn't as steep as FSU/TN/UF/Nebraska/USC/etc were or are.

They are gonna have a real hard time getting a new HC. That program has so many issues

FSU getting "snubbed" and then getting clobbered 63-3 in the bowl game stunk and stuck. Yes, it was 2nd/3rd string, but still that was their logo on the helmets and you got beat by 60 points. Had their players not opted out and played for pride for their University, the embarrassing loss might not have happened and the program be better off today.
Follow that by a 2-10 season and this is where they are at today.

IIRC, there was a time when FSU averaged 10 wins…over a decade.

There's too much football talent in a state of 22 million to be this bad.

Jimbo destroyed the program
He left because they wouldn't fund the program. Willie Taggart put it on life support and Norvell actually had resurrected it by 2022 and then went 13--1 in 2023 and then just fell off the face of the Earth.

Not really. From 1977 to 2017, they didn't have a single losing season. Since then, they have had 6. At least the downturn of an SEC program is made harder by the fact that schedules are brutal, and it's a constant arms race cause every program wants to be good. FSU is one of like three programs in the ACC that actually cares and they still are this bad.

Are we sure they'll even have a program much longer if the Big Ten or SEC doesn't take them?

I went to the first game and watched last night. They need a qb and they could be an 8 win team. That qb is god awful

Play calling was SO bad too.

Their gameday environment is still amazing. There is enough meat on the bone to eventually find its way back.

Yes and this was a time when 11 regular season games and 1 post-season game. Bobby Bowden got it going starting in the late 70s every year beating highly ranked teams like Michigan. To me they officially arrived as national championship annual contenders in 87 with a resounding defeat of AU at Jordan Hare.
