Alabama Crimson Tide one of biggest preseason college football national title favorites in 20 years

quote:

The Crimson Tide are around +180 to win the College Football Playoff at sportsbooks around the nation. Since 2001, only USC (+160) in 2005 and Alabama (+175) in 2018 had better preseason championship odds, according to SportsOddsHistory.com.

quote:

"We believe that this is Alabama's best team," John Murray, executive director of sportsbook operator The SuperBook, told ESPN.

quote:

Alabama has nearly six times as much money as any other team, highlighted by a $100,000 wager on the Crimson Tide, the largest championship bet at Caesars Sportsbook.

Best Bama team ever lost to a first year LSU coach and won’t even make it to Atlanta

A&M’s own fanbase probably considered them a preseason favorite but everyone else knew the ceiling was 8 wins.

Yep - most disappointing team in modern Alabama history. You could argue 2000, but in hindsight it was pretty clear that was all based on 1999 and the guys that made 1999 happen and kept the program afloat were gone in 2000.

Just a horrible job of coaching from top to bottom, team full of guys with experience and talent who never figured out how to be dogs. All around failure with blame applied to all.

If Saban doesn't go scorched earth on his coordinators after this season, I will honestly believe he will be retiring soon. Pete Golding is a dog shite DC, and I'm shocked Saban hasn't fired his arse. It's so weird seeing Bama not be elite on defense.

Yup BOB and Golding waisted so much talent. Saban allowed it to happen. Dont see him lighting into assistants like he used to and that translates into the players. Wtf is this anxiety bullshite. They have all turned soft from the coaches down. I dunno if its his age or if he worried about a legacy or whatever but I believe the NIL deal is what he truly doesnt know how to deal with since his coaching is very demanding. With the NIL and transfer portal, appears to be his great equalizer.

Well at least it didn't come as a shock, so there's that.

Desmond Howard told us all in August that Bama wasn’t winning the West, much less making the playoffs.

Texas wins that game if Ewers doesn’t get injured.

I picked Mississippi state as the dark horse to win the west, I can't criticize anyone.

We forced Saban to go into his bag of tricks (injuring opposing QBs) starting from game two. I don't think he ever really mentally recovered from that.

Everyone wants to blame the coordinators but may be the other teams have players that can compete and play with their players this year.
Bama usually has a definite advantage with talent but this year it is not apparent this year.
I think their coaching is fine but the players are not winning on the field.
Simple as that.
Not a coaching issue at all.
