I'd rather college football just go back to being college football, and some developmental league forms that takes kids out of highschool instead.

I think we all would.

Because rumor has it he was in contact with multiple schools prior to entering the portal. There’s a reason why his team mates and head coach at Pitt is trying to blow the whistle. Pitt Head Coach has attempted multiple times to reach out ti Lincoln Riley and he won’t return his call. He is not happy how it went down. Now granted no coach will be happy losing one of the top players in the country, but again rumor has it he was being recruited and was even given an NIL offer of $3 million prior to entering the portal. But rather true or not this entire pay for play thing got out of hand the very first day the courts ruled it was ok.

Sounds like Pitt boosters need to stop being poor.

It’s true, Bama offered , USC upped the ante and as of right now bama has the lead again.

If the kid contacted multiple schools then how the hell is that tampering by another coach?

I’d think any high level player that’s looking to transfer would do some canvassing of his own before jumping in the portal.

Bama definitely did not tamper when we already added Burton and Harrell. I don’t think we would even take him as we would lose multiple sophomore/freshman to the portal.

Honest question and although it will sound like I am taking a shot at Alabama, I don't really mean to be.....

Is Alabama doing a bad job of developing WRs, or are they not evaluating them properly? It would appear as if y'all are taking 2-3 WRs from the portal this year and Williamson last year.

I think they made some bad evals on the 2020 class I believe it was. Javon Baker, Thaui Jones Bell, and Traeshon Holden have done nothing. They should be the one starting now and none of them are playing, most are gonna wind up transferring out. It's too early to tell about the 21 class, but they show promise. 22 class should be legit.

Alabama’s passing game has been better than Georgia’s at least 7 years and had numerous first round draft choices and first team All Americans , including the 2020 Heisman trophy winner. Apparently Georgia’s most productive wide receiver thought it would be in his best interest to transfer to Alabama. In other words that’s a troll or a really dumb comment.

Yep. Do-gooders solutions almost always destroy what they are intended to"save" or "improve". That's because they are invariably grounded in feelings or emotions rather than common sense or reality.

Thanks. I knew y'all usually got some highly rated guys, and with all the transfer portal rumors it caught me off guard.

I THOUGHT IT WAS a done deal Addison got several million$ inducement to go to USC, when the Pitt coach called out Lincoln Riley , then Riley claimed Addison on his own worked out with Caleb , and then decided to transfer to USC.

Semi legal other than recruiting inducement which may still be not legal, I am not sure....

Hard to imagine one WR is worth this .."they seem to be every where these days.....

My comment had nothing to do with Georgia or our success recruiting WRs. Alabama always has out recruited us at WR, and we have never gone to a full, all out passing offense like Alabama has.

Burton going to Alabama says more about the situation at Alabama than it does at Georgia. Burton was one of my favorite receivers we had, and I hope he does well.

But my comment was not dumb....or it was dumb only if you think I was making a comparison to Georgia's WR situation.....which I was not. Try not to be so sensitive.

Exactly this. If the kids don't contact other schools before going into the portal it would be dumb. They should all gauge interest before alienating their current coaches and fans.

A player and more importantly their parents aught to be gauging interest and a landing spot for a player before he enters the portal. I can’t imagine how a guy would be treated by his coaches, trainers, team mates if he jump in the portal and no team picked him up and he had to go back to his coaches and ask to be back on his original team. It would be embarrassing as hell and likely not good for team chemistry.

i suppose bama doesnt need to even recruit HS WR's anymore.. they can just go get the best one via portal

I just hope they land this guy and Jermaine Burton who ran over there because he wasn't getting enough targets ends up getting less targets.

Also, all the kids that Bama had previously recruited that were 5 stars about to be holding chalk boards like bosses.
