End of an era. It was a great run Gumps.

Get used to losing, and please don’t kill your neighbors when you do.

Probably sent young out there knowing he was visiting USC on purpose.

Young is from California and has gone home to workout every offseason. I'm sure there are multiple other college players working out with him too. This happens all over.

Will BK let players go away to practice on their own away from Louisiana?

Burton going to Alabama says more about the situation at Alabama than it does at Georgia.

This is pretty obvious to anyone with a brain. Over the last three drafts, Alabama has put five WRs into the first round. Obviously depth at that position is a concern, especially after a couple of high-level recruits didn't develop as quickly as we would have like them to. Hence why we have gone into the portal (free agency) and gotten the likes of Burton, Harrell and (possibly) Addison.

A player and more importantly their parents aught to be gauging interest and a landing spot for a player before he enters the portal. I can’t imagine how a guy would be treated by his coaches, trainers, team mates if he jump in the portal and no team picked him up and he had to go back to his coaches and ask to be back on his original team. It would be embarrassing as hell and likely not good for team chemistry.

My thoughts exactly. Now, I know we have had a player (or two, I can't remember exactly) that have put their names into the portal and then took them out. Not a good look, imo. I think Auburn has had a couple, too. Cases of not doing their homework beforehand....or maybe being kids they just changed their minds.

My first thought was perhaps Alabama got a new WR coach? That was the reason for the question....as I said...I was not intentionally taking a shot, but I understand why it might seem as if I were.

The worst part is everyone with common sense warned that this is exactly what would happen. It was not hard to see.

But they wouldn't hear it and all anyone said was "You're just scared Alabama will lose players".

I said yes, Bama will lose players BUT Bama will get players as this will work both ways. People were so naive. Saban will recruit evaluate and if he has a position of need he will get them via "free agency" and they will be paid well. It is reported that Addison has 3 mill on the table at SC so Bama is in the ballpark with whatever NIL pay they have. Probably go 3.3 or 3.5.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he ends up at Bama.

Alabama is "losing" players that didn't get playing time, which is generally due to a lack of motivation and effort on their own part. Alabama is adding proven players. Works for me.

Or maybe everyone needs to be playing by the rules before it’s ruined for everyone.

What rules? The transfer portal has no rules and neither does NIL. Are you suggesting programs, their boosters and players should act under a gentleman's agreement?

The SEC & Pac12 commissioners are in DC today pleading with legislators to try to enact some federal regulations.

These college football players already think they are God's gift to this earth, they need to be held accountable for the decisions that they make.. With the portal players can just come and go as they choose if they don't like the situation that they picked to go to.. They should 100% have to sit out a year if they decide to transfer. What we are forgetting here is that nobody forces these athletes to go to any school.. I am one of millions of people that no longer watch NFL football, college football is trending towards being more and more like the NFL that I can't stand! The passion the players play with is the reason that we all love college football so much.. By paying players we are taking a lot of that away.. Also letting them transfer whenever they want they have no loyalty to a school or team.. It's going to be the downfall of college football

I love all the downvotes I’m getting about Bryce to USC

He’s from Cali.
Wanted to go there from the start.
Riley has the most QB-friendly system in CFB.
Won’t take anywhere near the physical punishment as he would in the SEC.

Look at what transferring to Riley did for 3 straight QBs, with one being from Bama: Mayfield, Murray, Hurts.

All that would make sense if playing college football wasn't a job that plenty of people in front of the cameras and behind the scenes have made millions of dollars (from the labor of these college football players). You just can't separate the college football we love from the big money economics that it creates. Hence why the law stepped in and legalized NIL.
