Toto just transferred from Tennessee, is that not a rivalry?

That one certainly qualifies - but as you noted, he's a kid from California who doesn't have deep ties to it.

quote:

Bama and UGA just played each other for a national championship

LSU had starters go to Texas A&M, Alabama, Arkansas and potentially Ole Miss

my point is just that fans clearly have more passion than the players, we just pretend they care as much

Absolutely agree - especially kids who didn't grow up cheering for a team, which makes up a lot more kids on college rosters these days compared to the past.

Agree. It seems like even as recent as 5-7 years ago, NFL fans would complain about their players being more loyal to their alma mater than their NFL franchise.

I think with more televised games, kids are less attached to a certain team based on region. Couple that with the portal and NIL, and their allegiances will be even looser.

Yep - plus teams (especially in the South) recruiting more nationally than they used to with coaches that are from all over the place.

It's just not the same regional/local feel that it used to be, for better and for worse.

Totally. As the game evolves things from the past that were liked may disappear, but good things will also appear. To think, 75-100 years ago, if there were an SEC Rant, people would probably be freaking out about helmets becoming more intricate and sophisticated the way that people freak out about the portal/NIL.

When innovations are introduced, especially when introduced all at once like many things today, the initial phase will be turbulent. Sooner or later, fans will adopt and the game will continue to evolve into the 21st century.

Hate to see him leave, but a good pickup for Bama. In that offense, he will have a good season.

Our first? we get it. Alabama has more. A LOT more. But you've been living under a rock if you thought that was our first championship.

Yes, your first. I thought about saying your second, but the fact that the majority of UGA fans I know weren't even alive for the last one means it's the first time they've ever experienced seeing Georgia win a national championship.

If you're actually 45+ years old, congrats on your 2nd. If you're like 80+ years old, congrats on your 3rd I guess.

Up until now Alabama fans had been pretty classy about us winning. I guess it is beginning to sink in now?

Look I acknowledged you won the championship, so I understand what you're feeling right now. However, we've won 6 of the last 13 and there's only been one championship since 2006 that the winner didn't have to go through us to get to the trophy. If you come at Bama fans sideways, try not to cry when we bring that same energy.

Maybe if Bama had spread the ball around a bit more the back ups would have been better prepared when their number was called. Maybe next year...

and you're just a front runner. On the UGA board you said something about Young was over rated or UGA made him look bad or something like that.

Young dominated your team in the SEC title game, though Metchie was out by the end of the 2nd quarter. Then, Young was playing well again in the national title game, and leading the game, when Williams went out in the 2nd quarter, not to return. Playing with all the true freshmen receivers didn't work as well this time as when the Fab 4 beat UGA in the last title game they played. The freshmen will be better next year, though, and with the addition of UGA's best wide receiver, I'm pretty sure the offense will again produce. Oh, and the offense won't be down to one healthy running back either with elite players recruited and returning, including the best rb in the transfer portal this year . Bottom line is that transferring to a more prolific offense will probably render Burton a better chance at a fat NFL contract.

I am 64....so again, MY second and the schools third.

And again, I acknowledged that Alabama had a lot more championships. Wow. You guys are coming unglued two weeks after the game?

LOOKWHATWE'VEDONELOOKWAHTWE'VEDONE!

Congrats. Everybody knows what Alabama has done. But, we did it this year. You don't have to show your rear end.

no qb can play if you get pressure on them, look what happened to Brady yesterday.

We were better than Bama in 2021, we were deeper.

As for Burton, he's not going to be as big an addition as you think he is. Insider info tells me he has no toughness, wouldn't play through minor injuries and was kinda passed up because of it. He'll make some plays for Bama, no doubt but he's not Jameson Williams good.

Never said that and i have said many times that Young deserved the Heisman. Show me one post where I said Young was overrated.

I might said something like this. Are you denying that we did?
Is it your opinion he looked good?

quote:

Young dominated your team in the SEC title game, though Metchie was out by the end of the 2nd quarter.
Yes, he did.

ok.

You are priceless. Our two TD passes?
Bowers-Freshman
Adonai Mitchell-Freshman
Go cry somewhere else if you want to complain about having to play with injuries.

Georgia players that were slated to play this year, but were out:

Dom Blaylock 5* WR
Arian Smith- Fastest receiver
Kendall Milton- High 4* RB
Tykee Smith-All American DB
Tate Ratledge-Starting Guard
Jalen Kimber-CB
Rian Davis-LB
Trezman Mashall-LB
Adam Anderson-Projected 1st round draft choice edge rusher

George Pickens was not full speed coming back from ACL tear in March
Kearis Jackson not at full speed due to injury.

I'm sure there were more that I am forgetting, so excuse me if I don't cry about your injuries. Crap, you guys act like you're the only team that had injuries injuries.

Maybe instead of using "We had freshmen WRs out there!" as an excuse you should check to see what other team might have had a bunch of freshmen WRs out there due to injuries.

And maybe instead of using "MUH Injuries!" you could understand we were missing a ton of talent, too.

Dude. I already said that Burton was one of my favorite players and he would do well at Alabama. But you just can't accept that, can you?

"B-b-b-but we had injuries! And we won't have injuries next year! A-a-and...."

Your fan base is melting down to a bunch of sniveling crybabies with nothing but excuses.

And yet the vast majority of our posters have congratulated Alabama on the pickup. Maybe one or two did not, yet you find the opportunity to melt like an ice cream cone on a hot August sidewalk.
