We've lost Phil Petty, Steve Taneyhill and almost lost Connor Shaw the last few years and now this.

Very important message on his GoFundMe post:

quote:

A Message of Prevention
Colorectal cancer is often silent in its early stages. We cannot stress enough how important it is to prioritize regular screenings and colonoscopies. These preventative measures are life-saving tools that can catch issues before they progress. If Stephen’s story can encourage even one person to schedule their screening, it adds a greater purpose to this difficult fight.

This should be a reminder to all the men posting on tRant.

Wow this inspired me to finally get a checkup. Been putting it off because I’m a hypochondriac.

Prayers for him.

Unfortunately most insurance won’t allow for cologuard screenings until you’re in your 40s. Best thing to do until then is be aware of family history and be mindful of notable changes in bowel movements.

ETA: If you drink a lot, eat a lot of red or processed meats, and/or don’t consume a lot of fiber or water then be honest with your doctor and it may inspire them to do an early screening.

Maybe don’t abuse substances in your youth so much?

Prep sucks but the procedure is basically a trip to dreamland. A tip. If everything is clear coming out, you can stop drinking that crap they give you. You are not getting any cleaner.

Dang.

On the flip side, my MIL survived stage 4 colon cancer and live 20+ additional years. It's possible.

Actually they aren't too bad. Prep the day before isn't much fun but the actual procedure is nothing.

I believe the recommendation is down to 45 years old now, but lots of factors can change that (e.g., family history, early symptoms, etc.).

The biggest thing is to not ignore symptoms. Bloody stools, pencil-thin stools, etc. are all symptoms. Of course, those are also symptoms of things like IBS, Crohn's, and hemorrhoids, so lots of people ignore them.

He did. You’re still a piece of shite for using his cancer diagnosis as a chance to troll Alabama. Congrats though

Another tip:

If you don't have a bidet, get some flushable wet wipes. You'll be doing a lot of wiping and you don't want to have to rely only on dry toilet paper
