Not football but played high school basketball with Nick Davis who would later play for Arkansas back in the day. Also played AAU ball with Jermaine O’Neal who went straight out of high school to the NBA. He graduated right before I moved there but it wasn’t uncommon to see Ray Allen at the gyms around Columbia, SC when he was home from UCONN

In high school I played against:

Larry Kinnebrew (Cincinnati Bengals)

Ray Donaldson (All American Georgia-Baltimore Colts, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys)

John Stewart-Drafted by Dallas Cowboys but blew his knee out in preseason.

I knew and played against a bunch of others at other levels and some I just got to know off the field.

I sacked Eric Zeier and when he got up he said congrats, when I’m in the league you can brag about sacking me. Which I did

We played Jacksonville who had Dan Hampton and LR Central who had Houston Nutt at qb. I was a split end so I had no contact with either.

Coached to punt by Hall of Famer Ray Guy.
Best high school football player I ever saw in the state of Georgia, bar none. Pre integration or no. Damn, the dude was unbelievable. Played about 4 different positions on the field in one night. The other team's punt returner would fumble his punts because they would go out of sight over the lights and the returner would lose where they were at. lol

The Wonsley brothers at Moss Point, one of whom came up after the game and shook my hand saying “your a good player man, enjoyed playing against u.” We traded licks all game, but I always played much better against better players)

I tackled Robert “steamroller” Ducksworth of West Jones on kickoff once, made a perfect form tackle on that mfer and he still went 3 more yards as i couldn’t full wrap around his legs. they were so damn big he allegedly used tony Dorsett used thigh pads. His thighs were like 32 inches or some ridiculous shite like that.

That coaches kid from George County that went to Mississippi State.

Played against Reggie Collier, and a bunch of other college guys but not directly against them. We almost played against Marcus Dupree in a bowl game

Played youth football with, and High School against Emmitt Smith. Our families are close. My parents were invited to his retirement, and birthday parties in Dallas. They flew my parents out there a couple of years ago.

Tackled Murray Hill into the sideline at their place. We slid in to their cheerleaders. One helped me up and I thought I was in love ??

Never touched him again the entire rest of the game. Dude was impossible in the open field.

Amazing athlete.Drafted by the Reds out of HS and was a AA safety at Southern Miss.I also think he was quite
the golfer in HS.

Played against Dalton Hilliard(LSU) and Reggie Dupard(SMU)

Hilliard had 125 yards in the 1st Q. We broke his ankle early in the 2nd. And yes I say we, football can be a dirty game under the pile. Not proud of that fact but it is what it is.
