Jarvis Landry… twice

Junior year, up 14-13 with 1:30 left. Ball on there own 10. Was manned on him all game and he only had like 3 catches for 40 yards at this point. Well, they threw the ball to him on 6 consecutive plays. That drive, he had 6 catches for 90 yds and a TD…

In high school I played against:

Larry Kinnebrew (Cincinnati Bengals)

Ray Donaldson (All American Georgia-Baltimore Colts, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys)

There was a lot of talent in Rome back then.

Le’Ron McClain was on my junior high and high school team. He played in a few Pro Bowls. Funny story is he actually wasn’t the most talented guy on the team. It was a guy named Titus Ryan, but he couldn’t make the grades to play college football

Sorry for downvote. Fat fingers.

Also, my oldest brother played at Florida…for about a month. John L Williams spllit his shoulder blade with his knee. He decided that might not be his cup of tea.

Definitely not the same thing, but Ramonce Taylor was arrested right around the block after trying to report somebody breaking into his car to steal pounds of his weed

High School was the best 15 years of his life.

Yes, there was. Kennebrew and Donaldson both played for East Rome and they were not even the best Rome team. I'm sure I played against some others in HS and am just now aware of how they did later on.

Ray Donaldson was a class act. Good guy.

Nilo Silvan at St Paul's in Covington, La. Electric speed and elusiveness. Went on to be a team caption for the Vols in early 90's amd played a little bit with Tampa Bay. If their were recruiting rankings the like they are now he would of been a consensus 5 star

That happened 2 years in a row in the semi-finals. I had graduated by then. My last year, Charlie was a sophomore, but was getting a lot of playing time. He played QB, DB, and punted. When he became the starting QB as a Junior, he no longer played DB unless it was an emergency. The best athlete I’ve ever known.

I didn’t, but my cousin had to cover Early Doucet. As you can imagine, it went very very badly.

Played with Mark Barron, AJ McCarron and Jake Coker. Played against Nick fairley and Julio Jones. Got knocked out of the playoffs one year by jerrell Jernigan and Courtney upshaw. I’m sure I’m leaving some off the list. Plenty that went on to play in college. Mobile area at that time was loaded.
