For the most part Steve Spurrier has done a good job keeping USC players in line

I am not saying we are perfect but for the most part USC players stay out of trouble and out of the headlines, which is a good thing overall.
We are not anywhere near Georgia or Texas A&M, two schools who are now synonymous with the word felony when it comes to football players. They might as well issue orange jumpsuits to incoming players at the start of summer workouts to get ahead of the curve.
Congrats to Spurrier to running one of the cleaner and well behaved programs in the SEC

I definitely can't deny that yall have had fewer arrests than UGA during Spurrier's tenure. Tip of the hat on that.
One follow up question however: do you think Stephen Garcia would be allowed to remain on UGA's team if he'd keyed a professor's car?

I think you have a point there.
But out of curiosity, if Garcia had gone to UGA, when would he have ever met his professor?

aren't you a TCU ball boy?

Yes, UGA CB Sanders Commings beat up his girl in public and got a 2 game suspension. So I don't think keying a car would be held to even remotely the same discipline level as that.

Don't jinx this.
I put up something kinda like this less than 24 hours before the 4 UGA players were arrested a couple months ago....

Nah, he'd be at Auburn.

It's a fact that Spurrier has better media control. Remember when he banned The State reporter? If a reporter makes his living writing about the Gamecocks, and any negative attention will get you banned from contact with the athletic department, you aren't going to dig through campus police reports every morning looking for citations and arrests.
Campus and Columbia PD are also in on it. The police throughout the state are corrupt. Remember when the cop got fired for writing Dabo a ticket?
I know that's Clemson, but that old timey good old boy network still exists throughout the state.
Richt doesn't have that same level of control and cooperation with the Georgia media or law enforcement.

It's easy to stay out of trouble when there's nothing to do in your state.

He didn't beat up his girlfriend in public. I was there. That's not at all how it went down or even close. He shouldn't have been in trouble at all. Period.

Yes, I do think he would have remained at UGA if he were to key a professor's car.

Well, you guys do win your conference from time to time so I suppose you are correct.

quote:Give it a rest dickwad. This time last year there was an incident involving JT Surrat in 5pts. For jay walking and "disorderly conduct" iirc. If one of our players does something wrong, people are going to know about it. Or else you wouldn't know about any of our player's misststeps (which are public info, Holloman DUI, Clowney's speeding tickets, etc). If there was some good old boy network they don't do a very good job of covering everything up.

And Spurrier has gotten rid of 2 media guys in his entire coaching career. Ron Morris blantanly lied and doesn't deserve to write about the gamecocks.

Then why didn't you testify for him?

ATHENS – Georgia starting cornerback Sanders Commings was arrested overnight by University of Georgia police and booked on charges of domestic violence/simple battery, UGA police confirmed Saturday.
quote:
UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said his officers were flagged down a little after 1 a.m. Saturday by persons in a vehicle in downtown Athens. At that time the female victim and four witnesses were interviewed by police. Commings had left the scene.
“Talking with [witnesses] there was some kind of interaction between [Commings] and a woman and they intervened,” Williamson said. “At some point in time he struck her. Based on the witness statements and interviews with the involved parties, that’s why he was arrested.”
What's worse is IT WASN'T HIS FIRST TIME BEING REPORTED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

More details have come forth, with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution uncovering that this likely isn't Commings' first tangle with the law in this regard.
According to the report, police checked a box indicating the alleged victim has raised between one and five previous complaints against Commings.
Garcia got a lot of chances, drinking ticket, keyed a car, set off a fire extinguisher....but how many times does a UGA player get to beat up a girl before he's booted?
