Sark can not force him to hit the check down or make the easy throws, thats 100% on Arch. Its a shared responsibility and Sarks inability to change the O to a more QB run heavy is frustrating but honestly we dont have the O Line for push for the RBs. It all starts with Oline play (which still falls on Sark to make a change).

That said Sark didnt make arch throw a terrible ball for his 2nd pick against OU, he also didnt make arch miss the wide open WR in a check down or 5-6 yard hich scenarios the past 3 games Thats 100% on Arch. He may not be skipping balls off the turf like he did against OSU but this is QB play 101 for college QBs

“Sark didn’t throw the interception” is an argument against blaming him for the physical act of throwing the ball. It does absolutely nothing to answer whether he’s doing a good job coaching the quarterback or running the offense.

Of course Arch is responsible for missing an open receiver. Nobody disputes that. But when your own argument is that he keeps missing basic reads and easy throws over multiple games, you’re describing a recurring problem that the quarterback’s coaches are responsible for addressing. Calling it “QB play 101” actually strengthens that criticism. Why are the fundamentals still breaking down, and what is being done to correct them?

You also acknowledge that the scheme needs adjusting and the offensive line is a problem. Who oversees the scheme, the staff, player development, and personnel decisions? The head coach. You can’t list failures across several parts of his offense and then treat each one as a separate excuse for him.

Shared responsibility means Arch’s mistakes count against Arch AND the coaching response gets evaluated. It doesn’t mean every bad throw ends the discussion about coaching.

By this logic, no offensive coach could ever be held accountable: he didn’t miss the block, drop the pass, or throw the pick. So what, exactly, would you hold him responsible for?

By every QB metric widely tracked (passing efficiency, passing yards, passing TDs) he is actually ABOVE average.

Stats never tell the whole story but like it or not he is an above average NCAA QB. Thats just simply not good enough at Texas, same with Sarks offenses.

I literally called out Sarks fault and multiple times and said its shared.

There is only so much he can do mid-season. We all agree the buck stops with Sark period and if we dont see changes next year (Oline coach, OC, different scheme, portal all in on O line and not on skill players, etc.) Sark will likely ego his way to a 9-3 season.

Arch just isn't that good. Plain and simple. Just look at his HS stats as a senior (2200 yards passing, 206 ypg, 34 TDs). He was not dominant at all. Rather pedestrian results....but his last name was Manning so he got an immediate 5-star greatest ever rating.

He's not awful, but he should be the starting QB at Tulane, not Texas. His mechanics are terrible and he doesn't look like he's processing the game fast enough. Every once in a while he make an amazing throw which keeps people holding out hope...kind of like how in golf when you make that one perfect 300+ yard drive right down the middle or nail a 100 yarder from the rough and it suddenly makes you fell better about the otherwise crappy round.

Arch is being propped up by an amazing supporting cast. He doesn't seem to be any better this year than last year or the year before. I think he's reached his ceiling.

It’s like no one ever looked closely at the teams he played against in HS.

Share those metrics then.

The tape doesn’t lie.

Is he the only problem? No

But he’s a big part of it most of it is sark though.

s Arch really bad?

Arch is serviceable as a QB. He will make the occasional great throw and have moments of brilliance. He will also have a WTF moment.

His curse is his last name. No result except top tier was expected.

I would have gladly had him at the helm of the 2011 Tigers instead of Jordan Jefferson.

He was great at the end of last year, the people saying I WaTCheD hIs HiGh sChoOl gAmEs forgot to watch his college games.

He just regressed. He's fine when he doesn't overthink, but Sark coaches that into his QBs. Ewers had the same problem but he was smarter than Arch presnap.

Fair enough.

You have more faith than I do. Replacing staff would be admitting he was wrong. He still thinks he's the smartest person in the room. Made it clear he will not give up play calling. Many times.

That's if he even makes it to next season.

I agree 100% everything you said, he will make it to next season.

Our leadership wont make a change unless this persist for a few seasons IMO. Even if we finish 6-6 no chance he's fired.

Sure, see here also this is us playing OSU while others played a cupcake in OOC so in theory his passing would have been better (although he didnt improve with Florida which in theory he should have).

Passing Yards 67th LINK

Passing Efficiency 52nd
LINK

Passing TDs Tied 39th
LINK

I only looked at the top 3 but objectively he is average or above average.

He was saddled with the last name of Manning. If he really was Joe Smith, he wouldn't be as crucified as he is.

It ain’t just Arch. Sark deserves more scrutiny at this point.

Go back and watch the second half v Florida and you’ll see the entire offense got stuffed, except for one long pass where Arch was getting hit.

He made some perfect passes vs OU. But when the defense had him pressured he tried to do the same with out proper footwork, didn’t work….

He just had to eat the ball more vs OU.

Sark wants to play with this skill position toys but lack the O line and Qb intangibles to do so.

A lot of offensive minded coaches (who should just be OCs) are doing this.

Part of it is on our Oline for sure, part of it is on Sark play calling.

However, what is inexcusable is him not running more(which could be that he has been coached not to) and his lack of finding wide open short yardage passes consistently. FL Qb executed this against Texas all game (a backup) and Arch either goes hero ball for a deep post or throws behind the LOS. Those are schemed plays by Sark but there is 75% of the passing game Arch can find the open WR from 4-9 yards and he struggles. The fumble against FL he had a wide pen in the flat WR and chose to not throw it (his 1st read). He struggles to read D, thats what is killing him.

Also when Sark wants to throw the HR and a D coordinator send 6-7 Arch can not hit the hot route. That is killing drives
