Rip George Edmondson, a life well lived!
bigDgator….I read the story link you posted...I hadn't realized he had been doing this since 1949. What a man and fan he was!
The story really warmed my heart...I have a great appreciation for history and tradition and this tradition surely was one of the best in college football.
All Florida fans are now missing him like Georgia fans have been missing Larry Munson. There's no replacing people like those two.
My sincere condolences and sympathies to the Gator Nation.

I think we should get a petition or something going to have his name placed in the Ring of Honor
At the next opening home game, UF should not have an honorary Mr Two Bits. Instead, they should play an old recording on the jumbo screen and let George lead the cheer one last time.
I was always in awe at how quiet the stadium would get when he would start his cheer. Great Gator memories.

RIP, I always loved this UF tradition. My dad was alma mater of UF. Mr two bits will always have special place in my heart. RIP to a great Soul!

He was living in Tampa for many years and I spoke to him several times...he would drive from Tampa to Gainesville for every home game, round trip around 260 miles. No one in an official capacity at UF started this...he just decided to do it and his cheer was from days gone by...but young college kids at the Swamp cheered for him. RIP

Glad I was able to witness the OG Mr. 2 bits in my college days, although I think it's great they kept it up with the honorary designee after Mr. Edmonson retired.

I grew up at Gator games watching him run from section to section firing up the crowd with the 2 bits cheer. He was the ultimate example of a true college football fan. The future Gators will be missing an important part of Florida football if he isn't remembered.

6 bits
a dollar
all for George Edmonson

The whole pregame thing is still cool with the honorary Mr. Two-Bits but him going from section to section has been missed.

More than anything else, it's tradition that makes college football so great. Particularly in the SEC. The players change. The coaches change. The traditions continue. Losing someone like this makes the world of college football and the SEC a little darker

RIP two bits. You brought some much needed class to the Gator program that is now gone forever.

Awesome video rumproast, thank you. He was always so energetic even into his 80's. Heck of a guy.
