I know the ONE TIME my brother and I went, you could not buy beer already cold from the convenience store, because, the lady said, the mayor owned the ice plant.

I will have a report after this weekend. So this BulldogBash is it pretty much just Black Crowes concert?

That has changed.

The town as a whole needs more Hoegaarden though.

No. Clapton will be there and they will have an Eagles reunion concert on Sunday too

Or so I've heard.

Well, there are several bands that play, beer vendors all along the street or bring your own cooler.

Ignore the idiots on here.

This weekend is Bulldog Bash, the biggest weekend of the year. The junction will be slam packed at the game for some good tailgating.

Friday night there is a free, live concert featuring the Black Crowes and also Chris Young in the Cotton District. That will be the place to go...6 bars in the area and live concert in the street. House parties everywhere. This will be the place to go Friday night.

Saturday night will be people everywhere, you have Ricks and Daves DarkHorse haven on hwy 182. You have Zorbas and Mugshots downtown. You have the Cotton District bars, and you have Cowbells out in the highlands (which stays open till 3 a.m., all others close a 1 a.m.)

You picked an excellent weekend to come, there will plenty to do and lots of women. You'll have a great time.

Food suggestions:

Veranda
Restaurant Tyler
Little Dooeys
Strombolis
Old Venice
Grill
Cappe's Steakhouse
Mugshots

I began as a grad student here at State in January after graduating from Bama in December.

I love this place. It's different from Tuscaloosa, but it's a damn good time.

The two things I tell people I have noticed about Starkville:
1) The girls are on par with Alabama, if not better (more down to earth than some stuck up Bama girls).

2) The food is amazing. Frick chain restaurants. Starkville has local food that will compete with any other SEC town. I barely ever eat at chains here.

There were 3 pages of responses to this question.

This means your thread itself is far more interesting than anything that you will find in Starkville.

Any tailgate spots we can hit up if we don't have one planned or should we just drink at a bar? If keeping it in a cup is a rule then it could be a hassle to drink while walking around.

Any suggestions for actual gameday drinking/tailgating?

My family is thinking about going if we can find hotel rooms close by.
My whole family already knows my little brother is going to Ole Miss next year, but we want him to see State and see what he is missing. So why not this weekend to watch LSU pound on State too?

Head to the Junction. That's the main tailgating area. Make friends with some locals and have a good time.

bring a tent and a cooler and enjoy the scenery. I'd probably avoid the junction for setting up because it is mostly students, but you should be fine setting up around the Barnes and Noble.

Barnes and Noble.

Where's this?

We're 25-26 year olds looking to party. Are y'all's tailgates in the junction open to taking in Visitors or is that rare? Any pregame things I need to see like a dawg walk or band thing?

I've been a couple times.

Starkville itself is a dump and there are plenty of cow fields but I like the gameday atmosphere at MSU, tailgating scene is decent.

Most Dawgs are good folks on campus.

Barnes and Noble is right next to the Junction.

More laid back tailgates. The rowdy ones will be in the Junction next to the Dawg Walk. You'll be able to catch the team walking in if you tailgate in the Junction.

Ok. Thanks for the pointers.
Isn't it the whiteout game or something?
