Starksvul can be a decent time. It is what it is. If you go to the Cotton District you will have as good of a time as you would at any other SEC school. Girls are surprisingly attractive, though it's not on the same level as Ole Miss or UGA. Make sure you make a stop at your local Kinnucan's before you go. Everyone tends to dress like a walking outdoor store (fratagonia, jeans, Costas around neck, Ariats, Columbia button down, etc.). Also, wear a Polo hat and you'll blend in just fine.

eta: everything in here is true. There are cows EVERYWHERE. People love to hump animals in starkville. There are no cool bars. The food sucks. The campus is ugly as shite. There are like 20 people there. The stadium is about even with a 1a private school game.

My personal favorite place is Dave's. After that, I'd rather just do house parties than the bars. Starkville isn't a bad time and most people consider Bulldog Bash to be the best time to be there (I personally hate it. Starkville is a small town and is crowded enough as it is for home game weekends and it becomes exponentially worse.)
Most disappointing thing for me is a startling lack of excellent food places. There are a couple of okay-good ones but every other college town I've been to atleast has that one place that's just awesome and I can't seem to find it.

Just whatever you do, do not sit in front of any State fans as they think it's hilarious to ring their cowbells right into your ears. For 4 quarters. And the more you complain, the more cowbell ringers come & sit by you. The ones I've been around do it more to harrass the outoftown fans than to support their team.Just get up & move. They won't stop.Forget the so called marshalls. They just laugh at you. I went once, with 2 young sons. We were miserable till we moved. Never again.
