I've been to every SEC town (outside of the 2 newbies), and numerous ACC/Big XII ones, and can honestly say 2011 Bulldog Bash when Alabama played was one of the most fun times I've ever had in a college town.

Reiterating what most have said about the bar scene: Cotton district is fun (bars except Bin 612 are pretty small though), and Zorbas downtown is a good time. The girls are surprisingly good looking. However, Bulldog Bash takes this to another level. If you go to this, and then hit up the bars after, you'll have blast.

The gameday scene at State is pretty good. If you're expecting the Grove, the Quad, Parade Grounds, North Campus, etc... you will be disappointed. It's just not of that magnitude. If you come in with an open mind, you'll have a great time, because it is good in its own right.

The Junction is an awesome spot to walk around and it's right in the shadow of the stadium. The Dawg Walk is right by it and is a pretty cool atmosphere that intertwines with the Junction. The stadium is nice, and has good sight lines no matter where you sit. It's obviously smaller than most SEC school venues, but you'll be surprised by how the new construction is turning out. Very nice. The crowd is not very loud to be honest... they aren't allowed to ring bells during the play, and they quite simply don't yell that much.

Overall, Starkville is a great stop. It's a quaint town, decent bars, pretty girls, unique atmosphere, solid tailgating, and more likely than not, you'll walk away with a win.

Also take tylenol/ibuprofen. Your head will hurt because of the damn cowbells. I seriously don't like them and you'll realize very quickly that you don't either.

Why do more people not just bring ear plugs? Or do they? I've never been so I have no idea.

I think the crowd has started to make a lot more noise with the cowbell rule now in effect. They have an icon on the videoboard that shows when to yell and when to ring and people have responded nicely. Also being a former FMB member I can say from the middle of the field it seemed just as loud as any other I've performed in and that was during ther Croom era. (Much more energy in the stadium now a days) DWS is smaller but the design keeps a lot of the sound in. One thing to remember is that no matter where you sit try to watch the actual game and not get distracted by watching everything on the videoboard. Freakin Beast of a screen and sound system. Was told by a worker in athletics they have never turned it past 30% volume.

I find it funny how some like to make fun of Starkville but that's okay because you can and will do the same thing there you would in Athens, Oxford, Baton Rouge, Gainsville, and all the other SEC stops. You will probably eat, hit the liquor store, go bar hopping, get wasted, call Domino's, crash, and wake up the next day and go to the game!!!

It was my first visit too and I enjoyed it. Out of all the SEC schools, Miss State was the one game I wanted to attend the most. Why? Honestly, the cowbells. I brought ear plugs but didn't need them. The women there are really good looking or fat and unattractive, there is no in between. Overall, It was great atmosphere as expected.

Pro tips: Try to get someone in the military to drive. We parked free all weekend at lots where they were charging $20 a pop cause the folks respected my buddy for being in the military.Good spots too. Less than a half a mile from the stadium/Cotton District every time.

I've said it before. Starkville has improved big time since the 80' & 90's. The people who talk about it no longer go out because they're married with kids and don't know what Starkville is like now.

If you didn't have fun this weekend in Starkville you just suck at life.
