ESPN can redeem the selves if they bring back the 1990s college football music and graphics

That would be awesome. I wish ESPN as a whole would revert back to how they did things in the 90s.

CBS had faults, but they treated the SEC games like they did their NFL games - but with SEC specific people. The cameras were top notch, all that stuff.
The CBS production quality is second to none relative to SEC content.

The days when the JP game is a brewing upset as the CBS game gets going and your team plays the ESPN night game?

That's what legends are made of.
I know I replied to this post already, but I found the ideal date for what you described:

November 12, 2005

JP: The Ol' BallCoach faces his alma mater for the first time as HC

CBS: Unbeaten #3 Bama hosts #5 LSU for the SEC West crown

ESPN: The DSOR comes down to the wire

That, my friends, was peak SEC.

It's been a while, and I had forgotten about that music. I wouldn't be upset to see it brought back.

All anyone cares about is money anymore. "College football" no longer exists, now we have pre-NFL minor league farm systems with contracts and free agents being whored out to the highest bidder for the right to broadcast it

100%

I kind of hope the whole thing burns down.

CBS didn't start broadcasting SEC games until the mid to late 90s from what I remember.

So personally, as someone who is a little older than most here, I don't get the attachment. I guess since I'd already been watching for like 20 years by that point, I never made the association.

I won't miss CBS. But I do miss Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried on Saturday nights on ESPN. As far as I'm concerned, there is nobody better.

The new climate has made me really apathetic about recruiting. Used to be a big deal when your team landed a 4 or 5 star QB. Now if he isn’t starting by his RS soph year he’s gone. That’s if the kid is even willing to take the red shirt.

I actually will. Years of pre-gaming for a 3:30 SEC game was always fun.

I know the commercial breaks sucked, as did Gary Danielson, but it was a tradition.
