I hear you and ESPN does suck, but 5 hour games on CBS can die in a fire.

Man, we can’t even have nice thread about SEC on CBS and the Jefferson Pilot/Raycom 12:21 game anymore.

A Big Ten game with the iconic SEC on CBS music is absolute blasphemy

Seriously get a nostalgic shiver thinking about the 4th quarter of some JP game when UF or UGA is in trouble and I've started to pound the beers a little too quickly in the 2H

remember what they took from us boys

The days when the JP game is a brewing upset as the CBS game gets going and your team plays the ESPN night game?

That's what legends are made of.

After they dropped Verne I knew it was the canary in the coal mine.

On the positive side, without Verne sobriety is in the cards.

Frick you ESPN.

Frick you SEC Conglomerate Money Making Machine.

I confess. I led the Stormtroopers to the attic where Gary Danielson was hiding.

Criminally underrated and I will continue to ride the Dave Neal train until he gets his due props.

The money is why we see every game played. Maybe you are not old enough, but there was a time when you were happy if you got three games on TV a year. And that's if you were a top ten team.

Not quite true, From the early 50's to the Supreme Court decision in the late 70's the NCAA dictator let B1G and PAC monopolize what got aired on TV. When the CFA formed after Oklahoma and Georgia went to court not a single B1G or PAC school crossed the picket line.

No, first they came for the TBS SEC game of the week with Bob Neal and Tim Foley.

What I hate more than anything is when you are playing A&M on CBS and every 4th play A&M has a defender go down with what appears to a career ending or possibly life threatening injury (only to return two plays later) the commercial break lasts 6 minutes.

My biggest fear is it all just becomes part of the ESPN machine. Just part of the cog. Same shitty cameras, same shitty secondary crews, everything looks the same graphics wise.

Competition makes companies care about their products. Once that is gone there is very little motivation to improve the product.

The only good thing about ESPN over CBS is the commercial breaks. I also need to add, ESPN also has Todd Blackledge. I think he’s the best color commentator in the game.

CBS had faults, but they treated the SEC games like they did their NFL games - but with SEC specific people. The cameras were top notch, all that stuff.

I give CBS some credit for raising the perception of the SEC. Their broadcast production just screams Big-Time football. There is an intangible there with CBS.

If I were Sankey I would have tried to hang on with CBS for 1 game a week.

ABC is gonna have to broadcast the Game of the Week similar to how they do the Rose Bowl for us to be happy with their coverage.
