That doubles his salary, right? Wonder how that's going to affect how much they can pay the assistants they bring in, because it's no longer a situation of HC taking a lot less to give assistants a lot more.

Another one of your hot takes that will end in failure. Again.

What have you been right about?

He’s proven all of his doubters wrong including me that called him “the dumbest hire in SEC history”. I nearly bumped my own stupid post as an act of some much needed humility.

To be fair, the people happy with the hire were very much the minority at the time. I hated it at the time too

You don't think if Coach O wanted to get a head coaching job at another school he would get a job? You think USC would hire him right now if they could?

Just because O isn't leaving LSU and everyone knows that doesn't mean he isn't in demand.

ETA: also the comparison to Larry Coker is a joke.

O not in demand? Southern Cal would gladly pay him 8 million a year to resurrect their program

These things always end badly.

ADs have a knee-jerk reaction after one good season.

Saban had one great season at LSU, then 2 bad at Miami. He was brought into Bama in 2007 as the highest paid SEC coach at the time, making $3.75 million.

How did that work out?

Seven million a year o say that’s warranted. An undefeated SEC and National Champion HC should make that.

Laugh all you want but USC's biggest boosters had their own suite at the national championship game. They know USC's AD fricked up when they passed on O

No affect at all. If LSU would have hired Herman or Fleck both would have made more than O. They would have been allowed to bring in who they wanted and paid them going rates.

LSU took a chance on O, O took a chance on himself. It worked out for all involved. Woodward isn't going to suddenly start paying minimum wage for assistant coaches. Winning trumps everything. One big advantage is opposing coaches can't use the recruiting pitch that O won't be at LSU long.

Sounds like LSU will go down the same road Auburn did. In two years you’ll be screaming get rid of coach O but want be able too.

Do you have any idea how many schools have suites for ALL natty games? Do yourself a favor and don't get too euphoric just yet..let it play out for a season first.

You think LSU is looking at a 3-9 season within the next few years like y’all did?

O said after the NC game “we’re just getting started.” I believe him.

Dude, you cant seriously think this is impactful to anyone can you? There are 30k of these in the last 10 days on the Rant, and it is ALWAYS the Ligers response to being straight up fricking owned by UGA for the past decade. In Gus You Trust MFer.

You're right, but what is Auburn gonna do when they're finally able to run Gus off, and there'a a 2.5 mil a year DC with a lengthy contract, AND your new HC doesn't want him?

Lots of desperate people in this thread I can tell.

The best part is the people jumping to conclusions without even knowing the details of the contact (hint: you have no idea what the buyout is).

Gus is O'fer vs O as is Kirby. We won't win a NC every season but things look good for the future.
