Because they've played 5 horrible offenses and 1 really bad offense

Total defensive rankings Bama 36.... LSU 25. But those Fremeau Efficiency Index rankings are awesome. "team's defense would be expected to have"

It pretty clearly tells you why there is a difference - the bulk of Alabama's yardage and points against have come when the game is out of reach, which is not included in these stats as to only measure performance in non-garbage time.

It's cool if you guys don't like it or don't want to pay attention to it, but it's pretty basic stuff that is used by everyone these days - coaching staffs, Vegas, etc.

Alabama Yards Per Rush Allowed
Winning by 15+ : 4.44 YPA (would rank #82)
Winning by less than 15 : 2.96 YPA (would rank #15)

Alabama Yards Per Pass Attempt Allowed
Winning by 15+ : 6.18 YPA (would rank #22)
Winning by less than 15 : 5.22 YPA (would rank #7)

I hope to see the third and fourth string defense getting some "garbage time stats" in the LSU game. So let them keep pulling up the total defense ranking.

Vs P5 teams, LSU is 81st. Gave up well above average for Texas and above the average for Florida. Gave up well above average for Vandy.

Clearly, when weighted against opponents and how they do against everyone else, LSU's defense has been sub-par.

LSU's issue is they've given up points and yards throughout the games they've played, not just in garbage time.

With the exception of Texas most of the points LSU has given up have been in the first half. Aranda has been good at making adjustments and shutting teams down in the second half.

Everyone knows Bama is going to score on the LSU D. What would worry me, if I were a Bama fan, is how much sharper the LSU offense was against a team with elite athletes. It’s like they needed a challenge to completely focus them, and when focused, they put on an historic show. How much more focused will they be in a game this big? Bama’s defense already doesn’t match up well with them. If they come in hyper-focused and efficient, it’s very conceivable that they one-up the Bama offense and walk out with a win.

I'm surprised Mizzou's offense is rated higher than our defense. The first game we really got our run game going was last week against Ole Miss.

Gave up a fumble return for a TD, Threw a pick in the End Zone, Fumbled the ball at the 1 yard line right before the half and they kicked a FG.

Turnovers are always the neutralizer

Bama's secondary has been pretty average to bad at best and they don't pressure the QB like they used to. The days of putting 7-9 guys within 4yds of the LOS against LSU are done. Not to mention LSU now has 5-7 guys that are legit threats offensively. Bama can't cover all of them at once.

LSU may not win the game but it's not going to be another one of those smothering defensive performances y'all are used to seeing in this game. Probably going to end up a 42-35 type game.

Please pass whatever you're smoking. In what world or game this year has Alabama's defense played better than Florida's? I'm not even saying LSU's defense is good but I feel like when Bama gives up 28 to a bad A&M team no one says anything. Yet LSU gives up 28 to a much better Florida team and our defense is trash...

You are more than welcome to read back through everything and figure out the inputs and conclusions for yourself. It's been explained 150 damn times.

Alabama held A&M to 5.08 YPP and 21 pts in non-garbage time before the game became a blowout.

Alabama held Ole Miss to 3.71 YPP and 10 pts before the game went into garbage time.

Alabama held South Carolina to 5.49 YPP and 16 pts before the game went into garbage time.

Garbage time being when the following margins exist :
- +38 pt lead 2nd qtr
- +28 pt lead 3rd qtr
- +22 pt lead 4th qtr

Clemson's D is good, but not a Top 3 defense IMO. Average at DT and generally against the run.

Our offense has had its issues, but the talent is there to be a Top 5 offense.
