Now, nationally or in places like Texas? No, not very many. But football success and the last 10 years of new students/alums from across the country has changed that. There are more sidewalk Bammers in Chicago, LA and Dallas in 2020 than 2005 but there are also more UA grads there.

That's right to a degree. There is over 100 U. of A. Alumni chapters in the U.S. outside of ALABAMA with a few more outside the U.S. Most of the chapters were established long before the Saban are began. Additionally, there exists Bama fan clubs and watch groups in just about all the state's in the U.S. and an immeasurable number overseas. most of these groups were started by an alumnus but the majority of members are dues paying sidewalkers! Welcome to the
world of "Bigtime," sidewalkers! I'll just call them......F.A.N.S!

Bammer is a bully mindset. They can pile on when they are on top. They gain weakling tagalongs that feel empowered to join in. Me and 2 or 3 Auburn buddies used to run those clowns out of Club South in Bham on the reg back in the Dumbose and Shula days.

Didn’t even think that Bama would not be the answer. Them and ND on a national level in a walk-off.

We had a shite ton during the Meyer years because of Tebow. They all jumped to FSU for Winston and are now in limbo waiting to see which makes the playoffs next.

I think they're called "still in the closet" fans at A&M.

LSU has a lot of sidewalk fans because it is the only P-5 school in the state. It has a lot to do with state pride. Notice how Orgeron and his players talk about winning for the state of Louisiana, not just LSU. They see themselves representing the state as well as LSU, and it resonates with many people in the state, even if they didn’t go to LSU. Sidewalk fans are generally more vocal when their team is successful. Not surprising. Why wouldn’t they be?

LSU has a lot of fans on the Coast in Mississippi because many people there have roots in Louisiana, especially New Orleans.

I don't know about sidewalk fans but if we're talking Wal-mart fans, Clempson takes the cake...

Which fanbase on this webpage has the most sidewalk and/or bandwagon fans (alter trolls included).

I know LSU and Alabama have a lot
I know A&M has at least one.
Are the rest of the fanbases mostly alumni or are other fanbases similar?

They are virtually all the same. If you are reading this like maybe 10% (and thats probably high) of your fanbase actually attended the school

The number of A&M fans who are not either former students or have direct ties to them is extremely small.

Completely false. What percentage of Texans do you think are A&M fans?

No, that’s pretty accurate. The ban wagon sidewalks are mostly texas fans.

Alabama football sidewalk fans is the only one of yall Ive even seen come remotely close to Kentucky basketball sidewalk fan numbers. I dont think many of yall have a very clear or realistic view of the situation in the Bluegrass.

These discussions are so dumb because without the “sidewalk” fans, these powerhouses wouldn’t.be what they are. There’s just as many alumni that don’t give a rip about giving back as there are non alumni who spend tons of money to support their team.

The point is, without these types of fans, there is no SEC.
It's only dumb if the intent is to belittle those who support a school that they never attended.

In Texas, we tend to call them "T-shirt fans." I think one can make a distinction between folks who have nailed their colors to the mast, so to speak, and support a school through thick and thin, and those who jump on the bandwagon in good times. If your only attachment to a school is buying the T-shirt on sale at Wal-Mart, and talking trash to rival fans, then, yeah, those folks deserve some ridicule. You've got to have some skin in the game if you want respect.

Sure you dont. Poll is several years old but we can safely assume the numbers are about the same. 22% of Texans identify themselves as A&M fans compared to 20% for Texas

LINK

Population of Texas is 29 million so thats 6,380,000 A&M fans in Texas alone.
TAMU has roughly 438,000 living alumni, excuse me "former students".
So if we said that all 438,000 lived in Texas, which we know isnt true but lets say they do then that means 6.8% of TAMU fans actually went to school there.

I dont get the negative stigma behind being a sidewalk fan.

I'm not affiliated with the Saints in any way yet I'm still a fan of them too. College athletics stopped being about the academic side a long time ago.

Also, kids usually become a fan of a certain school (like I did) but may not go there for whatever reason.

Sidewalk fans and bandwagons are two different things

Very well said, I agree 100%.

Bama has a ton of bandwagoners that don't know shite about Alabama.

This is true, but it's just part of winning a lot. The bandwagoners tend to be annoying as hell to try to talk to about football. But, it's a price worth paying for winning consistently.
