If MSU makes the SECCG I’m going to the game nothing will stop me. Odds are the couple will end up divorced and you can go to the 2nd wedding

You should be ashamed of yourself. In today's day and age, it is far too easy to go to the wedding AND tune in. There's multiple options here:

1) Upon seeing the couple after learning the date, you slyly say, "I assume there will be a TV at the reception. As you're aware [insert team] is playing a big game that day." If you get snark or an eye roll from the bride to be, move on.

2) download and if necessary, subscribe to, ESPN or whatever other streaming app has the game. I've done this during the 2015 LSU-Florida game. Because it was an outdoor wedding with too little seating, I had a crowd of men standing around me for the ceremony. While awkward, it also provided cover for when my wife (bridesmaid) walked down the aisle.

Finally, the subtle brag that you expect your team to be in the SECCG was not lost on me.

Back in 09 my cousin got married on a Sunday in destin. It just happened to be the same weekend the saints were playing the dolphins and started the game down by 20. As the saints make a comeback word starts spreading around the ceremony. Immediately after the ceremony we all found a hotel bar and watched the saints complete the comeback and then hit the reception. Needless to say my cousin chewed every single one of us out.

In hindsight I don’t know that I’d do anything different So prepare your arse for a nice chewing out if you’re close with this person.

Well if you're an Ole Miss, State, Arkansas,Vandy, or Tennessee fan, I'd say skip the wedding bc watching your team play in ATL is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity, too.

The wedding would be cancelled and all of my family would be at the game.

Went to a wedding in Metro Atlanta on a football Sat decades ago, before cell phones. Had a transistor radio in my suit coat pocket and ran the earphone through my shirt, out my collar, to my ear. Wasn’t that noticeable. Thought it was clever and that I’d be the only one. Must have been a dozen guys at the wedding doing the same, including one of the groomsmen.

It’s just plain rude to schedule a wedding on football Sat.

A similar problem here in Minnesota if some bride-to-be schedules a wedding on the start of duck or deer season...or the fishing opener.

All red-blooded MN men would simply (and furiously) call off the wedding and announce to the world that she's an ignorant, cheap whore, dripping with STDs...and she voted for Obama.

It’s really inconsiderate, in the south to do this. I don’t understand how men allow their fiancée to do this year in and year out.

Smartphones will alleviate this, somewhat.

Yeah, that ain't happening.

There wouldn't be anybody to book a wedding through, for starters

As much as it annoys me when people do this, I would never miss the wedding of a family member or close friend for any type of sporting event.

Let’s say it is your brother who did not go to an SEC school and is not a football fan’s wedding?

Then let's say "Thanks, Obama" for legal gay marriage.

Isn't this what smartphones are for? You can watch on your mobile.

If my team isn't in it sure. If Florida is I'm finding a new family on ebay.

The person who is getting married preferences don’t even come into play here.

If I’m in the wedding, I’ll give you the ceremony but I’m watching the game somewhere for the rest of it.
