Considering Foley turned down a half a dozen options for Sat-Mon for LSU to even consider this Florida must agree to:

- Paying the South Alabama buyout
- Reimbursing LSU for lost revenue from the home game.
- Let LSU dictate kickoff time.

Also Texas A&M would have to agree to move the LSU game to Saturday.

Florida and the SEC allowed all of this due to their inaction all week. Its on them.

that's why i said "supposedly". it's a narrative

that's also why i said there couldn't even be a coverage assessment yet

i was just nipping the "insurance" argument in the bud before people started trolling with it

Yeah, as far as I know, insurance is viable for this weekends game, as it was canceled due to weather. However, if LSU agreed to reschedule LSU/UF on 11/19, I don't believe there would be any policy that would trigger coverage for that. That's a choice.

Radio reported that if LSU did that, they would be responsible for $1.5 million to opposing team for buyout. Then, would expect loss of home game to run around $3-3.5 million. Total cost to LSU would be in neighborhood of $5MM.

Now FL could offer to pay LSU that to get them to do it, and that might change things. But pretty sure there is no insurance gonna kick in for that.

I would say UF dodged a bullet, for them a cancellation is a win

Made a thread for this yesterday and it fell on deaf ears. This absolutely needs to be brought up at the SEC meetings next summer. Total lack of leadership from Sankey. It never should have gotten that far and never should have dragged into Thursday. There needs to be a clearly defined system in place when catastrophic weather could affect the playing of a football game at the home site.

SEC should be the one insuring SEC games for the universities and they should be the one calling shots pre-post event. Aka we need to move this or can this be played Monday?

Also rescheduling two games to play a game that should be played this weekend is going to result in less money to all member schools from the SEC network. You can say "insurance" all you want, but there isn't a prayer they have a policy that is going to cover voluntarily cancelling two games to play a third game that could have been played. They might be able to collect insurance for the game being forfeited by Florida this weekend. Long story short, that's two fewer games that the SEC member schools are going to get revenue from.

I'm still not a fan of 3 road games in a row, but this would "kinda" soften the blow. Would they even consider?

I just heard Foley say they couldn't come up with anything so they'll just wait and do what Sankey tells them. He's either a liar or an ignorant moron.

That's really not a fair thing to say. He could be both.

So Florida gets to cancel the game and avoid a loss. And then they also get to collect the insurance money for the home game "that's couldn't be played"?

exactly

to go back to where my comments started, i just can't see the SEC/UF/LSU having discussions about the 11/19 issue yet. i think alleva is being truthful in saying that is hasn't been discussed yet because it makes no sense that they'd have that discussion at this point. now will it come in the future? probably. i think it's too complicated to go through, though

exactly, it can and will be discussed in the next week, but as far as actually happening, it's very unlikely

LSU should give up the South Alabama game to let Florida have their home game and play this SEC game. It's that simply. LSU prefers an easy South Alabama game to a ranked Florida team.

there are some pretty severe financial implications presented by that scenario

$5-6M isn't a small amount

So Florida screwed around all week saying Saturday at 11 or bust --all the while knowing their DL and QB wouldn't play --while LSU offered alternatives including playing in Gainesville Sunday or Monday.

Yet LSU should now buy out South Alabama, lose $4M in home game revenue and play 3 SEC road games in 19 days because Florida had no interest in playing in the first place?

Really?
