Well my parents dropped a bomb on me and my wife last night.
They want to give us their house and property. They are getting old and want to downsize and my Dad doesn’t know how many more years he can maintain the property.
It’s a beautiful property (50 acres) with a pond, a 2 story house, a pool, a pool house, a wood shop, and another shop.
It feels like something we need/have to do, but it would be a significant trajectory change in our lives.
Of course, the drama might come today when they tell my brother and sister the plans.

if only there was an even simpler solution than invading the Boy Scouts
How, exactly, did they "invade" boy scouts? It's an all girl troop with women troop leaders?
They have not inhibited the boys in any way.
And yes, I still take my daughter camping as well. She also likes camping with her friends.
People can bitch about girls being in Scouts, but Girl Scouts don't camp, which is what my daughter wanted to do.
Her troop camps a lot, like once a month. She loves it.
We had severe storms here last night, and she handled it amazingly. I don't know many 12 year old girls that would camp in a tent that they set up during severe weather and not be phased. I asked her how it was and she just said "it was really loud" and that she just put her headphones in and read a book by headlamp.

these all boy troops are only one angry feminist with twitter account away from becoming coed troops.
Nope.
You seem to have really strong opinions about things in which you know nothing about.
There are all boy troops.
There are all girl troops (my daughter is in one).
There are coed troops.
There are very conservative troops (my daughter's troop is very conservative). There are definitely more liberal troops.
Like with most massive organizations, it depends on local leadership.
Painting these things with broad brushes is always dumb.

Scouting today does not resemble scouting of former generations in even the least. It used to teach self-reliance and provide a good moral base. Now, it teaches very little regarding woodscraft, survival, first aid, citizenship, etc.
I purchased a Scout Field Book for one of my coworkers whose sons enjoy running around their many wooded acres like wild Indians during the summers. I though it would provide them with some guidance on building shelters, starting a cooking fire, lashing poles together to create tripods and rope bridges - but NOoOoOo! It's full of climate alarmist crap, equity and inclusion tripe, and namby-pamby sissy-boy BS.
My 12 year old is Scouts. She is currently at Winter Camp for 4 nights. She is taking woodsmanship, Family Life, fire starting, and fishing during this camp.
I haven't seen anything close to what you are saying in our experience.
Her experience is very similar to my experience in the 80s/90s.
wasn't vbutch(??) in the Pentagon during 9/11?
is he still alive?
is he still alive?
I didn’t have Christmas growing up. No gifts. No tree. Just a normal day.
My parents would tell you that Christmas was a secular holiday and had nothing to do with Christ and that we could celebrate Christ everyday.
I think they just didn’t want the stress
So now as an adult, I don’t have much connection with Christmas. We do gifts, and lights, and a tree, because it means a lot to my wife and I do want my kids to have those warm memories, so I try my best to help foster that atmosphere, but it’s all for them. I don’t really care.

We saw lots of deer first week of Nov in northern MO. Lots of small bucks running/chasing.
I killed a nice, mature, huge bodied 8, and my buddies loaded up on does.
We only saw 3 true shooters among the 4 of us in 10 days though.

Killed a deer with a bow and ate its heart for lunch
I’m currently sitting 30’ up an oak in northern Missouri. My bow is hanging beside me. There is a western breeze on the crisp, 39° morning. The sky is clear.
I’m watching turkeys feed in cut corn to my right. A family of coons are playing in the creek. Squirrels are cutting acorns all around me.
I have yet to see a deer this morning, but I already have a nice 8 in the ice chest bag at the cabin, so I don’t mind just sitting here, enjoying a gorgeous morning.
I don’t think many people get to experience the waking of nature quite like hunters do. A warm bed is nice, but these are moments that refresh the mind.

I really enjoy when people speak so confidently about things they know nothing about
Wow
I thought the “y’all know we don’t really lose an hour of daylight” people were the dumbest people on this topic, but you just topped them
Congrats

Sitting in the corner of 3 converging fingers surrounded by cut corn. We have seen lots of deer, but nothing we want to shoot yet.
I can hear a few gobblers ripping over the hill.
4 more days to get it done.

I won't be a fool and leave at 2:30 am like i did last year and ran off energy drinks and coffee on the way up

I’m waiting on my buddies to pick me up right now. We will drive all night, get to the farm at daylight, hang stands/cameras, take a 2 hour nap and be hunting tomorrow afternoon.
I don’t know how many more years we can do it this way (we are in our 40s) but it’s always a blast. And exhausting the first day.
I need to stop pacing my driveway.
I, too, will be in Putnam County.
We are near Lemons.

I'm headed up Thursday and will be up there till Nov 8th, so no gun season.
The weather should be good this year, unlike last years bullshite warm and rainy.
