Which is why Nick Saban and college footballs biggest brand Alabama along with last years Heisman trophy winner would be welcomed to play a round of football against Georgia.

Imagine the ratings. Another big match classic.

Neither is a 2 loss conference champ.

Gonna be 50/50 either way if LSU wins.

ESPN has a vested interest in keeping as many viewers as possible interested. Alabama has 0 chance. A 2-loss non-conference winner isn't sniffing the playoffs.

I seem to remember a time when all the stars and moons had to line up completely for Bama to play in the NC. And they did.

Will it happen again? I don’t know but if it does it would not surprise me to end up in the Emergency Room with a laughing attack.

We don't deserve to be in the playoffs and we aren't likely to make it, but if this thread and others like it have taught me anything, it's that if we do wind up getting in there are going to be some posters who have a really hard time coming to grips with that situation.

My God y’all are pathetic if you think you have a chance. Even worse if you think you deserve it

Man I can't wait to see your guys lose your minds as you realize you're no match for Georgia... then slowly come to grips with the fact your loss is paving the way for Alabama.

We just need a couple more teams to help us out

Well, from the OP alone, that isn't true

ESPN tossing out guesses doesn’t make it fact.

All depends on what the alternatives are. 15% chance probably overstates it, but it's certainly not 0%. It would have been a lot higher if Michigan and TCU didn't eek out wins, but subsequently Tennessee getting blown out helped keep a glimmer alive

They just need a way to knock out 3 or 4 teams out to get the #4 seed which is plausible. No chance at all if UM/OSU is a close game though this weekend though

1 Georgia - a lock unless they lose to Ga Tech prior to SECCG, then they'd have to win their way in
2/3 OSU/UM - a blowout loss and/or upset in BigX champ means only one of them gets in
4 TCU - losable game at Iowa State or big 12 championship
5 USC - has 2 losable games (ND and pac12 championship)
6 LSU - heavy underdog to UGA & could lose to TAM on bad day
7 Clemson - could lose to USCe or ACC championship
8 Alabama

Thatt's not what the FiveThirtyEight Playoff Predictor has today:

Georgia 86%
Ohio State 73%
TCU 58%
Clemson 51%
Michigan 47%
Southern Cal 32%
LSU 22%
Oregon 12%
Kansas State 11%
Alabama 5%
Tennessee 2%
Washington 1%
All other teams <1% (basically eliminated)

Link to FiveThirtyEight Playoff Predictor

Additionally, using the next game and win out features, if you try to get Alabama above 30% by having TCU, Clemson, and LSU lose this week, it gives you a "Unlikely to happen" message when you put in another upset. There would still be 4 teams with a greater chance of making the playoffs than Bama (including an 12-1 TCU that is BigXII champion).

Bama has a chance, but it relies on some extreme luck (even more than in 11 or 17). It does not have a better chance than LSU.

GEAUX TIGERS!

A multiple loss team, not winning their conference, not winning their division, looks undisciplined and disjointed many times on the field, mediocre coaching and average to bad game plans. Which team am I talking about?

We have seen how that went all season! ESPN will be wrong again with their predictions.

This isn't a prediction.
It's the estimated odds of the teams' chances of making the playoffs....two completely different things.
