Bama has a chance, but it relies on some extreme luck (even more than in 11 or 17). It does not have a better chance than LSU.
The Tide has no chance (and shouldn't). This should tell us that unless Michigan totally craps the bed against tOSU, they're in.

Sorry

I think 5% is overstating the odds for Bama.

If gumps want to get a hard on for a 3% chance, have at it. I know the season was a huge disappointment. You gotta get your kicks in while you can. It is a long offseason when you enter rebuild year #3.

Much like 2007. Still think LSU wasn’t the best team then?

Nope... we played in and won the SEC CG in 2007. Nothing Bama did in 2011 or 2017 was similar. UGA in 2021 wasn't even similar. They won their division. In 2011, 2017 and 2022, Bama has won nothing to date except a few games that have opponents with winning records.

We got folks around here who still believe in Santa Clause.
If a fan can't live with two losses by 1 and 3 points to top-10 schools away from home, on the last plays of the games.....well, they got a problem.
Eight out of the nine playoffs have had The Tide in'em, and this'll be the 2nd time in a DECADE that they won't be there!
I CAN LIVE WITH THAT!

This sounds right to me.

My prediction is UGA, Ohio State, TCU, USC.

LSU gets in if they beat A&M and UGA. I don't say that because I'm an LSU fan, I say that because the SEC Champ will get in if at all possible, and can afford 1 extra loss in the eyes of the committee. So, LSU would jump USC/Clemson, if they pull the upset.

UGA needs 1 more win. Either Ga Tech or LSU do it.

Alabama does have a chance, but that involves stuff like both Big 10 teams imploding at the end of the year- one loses the big matchup, the other loses in the Big 10 championship, etc. I think Utah has to win the Pac 12 with Notre Dame beating USC before, Clemson has to lose the ACC, etc. At that point, I think you do want UGA winning out, and maybe TCU too. And then, sheer chaos everywhere else.

Ok, let's pretend OSU wins next week and is upset in the CCG.

OSU- 12-1. Division winner. Lost in CCG.
UM- 11-1. Non-division winner
Bama- 10-2. Non-division winner

Why would bama jump over both of those teams?

Bama doesn't have any chance at all. If they only had 1 loss then sure, but they have 2 losses and didn't win anything. They have less than zero shot.

Neither of these teams are among the 4 best in the country, but I agree they will be in if they win out. I don’t think either of them wins out, though.

If Michigan loses big to OSU to finish the year, they’re out. A potential rematch wouldn’t be deserving, nor would anyone want to see it.

Oh I fully agree, I'm not advocating they should still be in the playoffs. Not at all.

I'm simply saying that if by some weird scenario the committee was taking those teams into consideration, there isn't any justification to have bama above them.

Agreed. These are about as accurate as their NFL fantasy projections.

None of what we are seeing with thesr rankings right now matters. The committee will do what it wants after all the games have been played.

LSU beating Georgia is a tall order. While I think we have a chance, I would not put money on it. I will assess our playoff chances IF we manage to beat Georgia.

If not, let's go to the Sugar Bowl and finish the bounceback season in style. This is only the beginning.

According to ESPN this isn't true, and Alabama has a better chance of making it than LSU. Go figure.

Let's say for sake of argument, Michigan blows Ohio State out. 20+ pt win, very decisive. I think that knocks OSU out.

Follow that with Purdue (or whoever) blows the doors off Michigan in the B10 championship... I mean, a beatdown.
You have to think that kills them too, and wouldn't bump OSU up.

That frees up the Pac 12, but if that ends up being a 2 or 3 loss team (say, Utah, Washington in particular), and Notre Dame throws USC into the garbage in addition, then the Pac 12 is out.

Gives the ACC an opening, but only if Clemson. South Carolina could mess this up for them, as well as a loss to anyone in the championship. So, say that happens;

LSU clearly gets in with a win over UGA, if all that plays out. But assuming UGA wins, you have:

13-0 UGA
13-0 TCU (go ahead and roll with that)

and, who else?
11-1 Ohio State, with maybe a 30 pt loss in their last game? 12-1 Michigan, also losing by 30? You take them BOTH?

Do you even glance at Alabama, let's say coming off a huge win in the Iron Bowl, 10-2 overall, with both losses coming on the last play of each game? I think you do. I think the name/reputation would help their cause, in that debate.

Alternate scenario- all of that plays out, but let's say Georgia Tech and LSU both beat UGA; and TCU loses their last 2.
Who's in?

Not hard to figure. LSU's chance to get into the cfp is likely exactly the same as their chance to beat UGA.

Bama needs a lot of help, and ESPN thinks that Bama getting help is more likely than LSU beating UGA.

I'd rather be LSU than Bama right now.

I wouldn't. LSU is not beating UGA.

Either way, BAMA's not getting in. Too much has to happen for BAMA to sneak in and I don't see it happening. We'd lose anyway. This isn't a championship team.

I don’t think that’s true, statistically. If Michigan gets blown out by OSU especially, all bets are off, IMO.

Michigan is a lock. 4 seed even if they lose by ~17 at Ohio State. Blake Corum isn’t healthy and it gives them an injury excuse for the committee.

Sorry LSU, but Golding is not coaching GA's defense. You are going to get curb stomped.

cmon now, be honest. You would rather at least have the opportunity to win the SEC opposed to sitting at home?
