Not fair to call Jones a 1 read QB yet. Not a big enough sample size to make that determination.
He won't be Trask but hopefully he won't be a 1 read kinda guy like Franks either.
Not fair to say he’s shown anything to indicate he isn’t one to date.
All I saw from him last year was wildcat and in-accurate quick reads in the short and midrange game.
Not arguing he doesn’t have a high ceiling, but I’d be really concerned if he were my day 1 starter in 2021 based on what he showed last year.

It will be interesting to see if he can stay healthy and keep the job. Mullen passed him over before

Not fair to speculate either way. 98% of his snaps in non garbage time have been wildcat running plays.
He had part of the Oklahoma game and like 1-2 series vs Auburn in 2019 to run the full offense. That's it.

I’ll say this, if there is anyone who can get the most out of a QB who is limited in certain areas it’s Dan Mullen (and Lane Kiffin).

I think his closest comparison is Lamar Jackson. Probably not as athletic/elusive but has a better arm. But I agree making the reads will be what defines him.
I really hate our fans sometimes.
Jackson won a fricking MVP in the NFL AND a Heisman

I’m comparing playing styles. They play the same style, no?

No they don’t.
Jackson is much more of a pocket passer than Jones is. He was substantially more polished as a passer at Louisville than Jones is right now.
Jones hasn’t shown me anything more than being a 1 read QB who takes off when his WR is covered.
Edit: And lol at saying Jones has a better arm than Jackson. Jackson tossed a 70+ yard TD effortlessly to Hollywood Brown 2 years ago, and that ball traveled at least 60 yards in the air.

I think comparing him to Jackson is indeed silly.
But I also think pegging him as a 1 read QB based off a tiny sample size is silly as well.
He's attempted 86 passes over 3 years. The vast majority in garbage time.

Based on the sample size we have, thats exactly what Jones is at this point.
Anyone claiming otherwise, is more or less hoping Jones will improve and become something more.

He could happen, I’m just skeptical of it actually happening for a number of reasons and not all of those reasons are Emory Jones related.

Watching last year’s Ole Miss game right now and I am reminded how much pure athleticism is there. He’s had plenty of time to work on his awareness and reads. He is a big question mark for me this year, but a very high ceiling.

He’s what 6-1or 6-2 and under 200 pounds right? Can he last a whole season of 15 carries a game?
In fairness he is about the same size as Ty Chandler and a bit taller than Eric Gray but the same height. (Going by the poster that said he now weights 205)
There are RBs in the SEC that is about the same size, so I don't see that as a drawback for him.
His passing might be a draw back, but he hasn't really had a chance to this point. It'll be interesting, no doubt.
