At the moment it’s
1) Football- will always be this way.
2) Men’s Basketball- Our AD played basketball here and is putting a lot of resources into it.
3) Baseball- was 2 for decades but since the national title a few years ago, NIL and resources have been diverted to basketball more than baseball. Which is part of the reason we have collapsed the last few years. It sucks but the other two sports are the money makers.
4) Women’s basketball I guess
5) everything else

You sure about that? OU has a strong basketball history, and so does its in-state rival.

Yeah our history is really good and weve.had great coach's but we only used to sell out a couple games per year and that's when we were rolling. Our basketball stadium was built in the 70s for concerts. It's a terrible place to watch a basketball game.

Arkansas: whichever team isn’t currently embarrassing us.

Arkansas - Track & Field, Baseball, MBB, Football

I mean, from a fan support, NIL investment, facilities investment and considering we have arguably a top 5 coach in the nation right now, I would say it’s fairly obvious we are prioritizing basketball over baseball

I don't know why I am setting myself up by chiming in on this conversation but here it goes.
Money - Football...that's about it.
Sports with the most success - Wrestling, Softball, Volleyball, Golf

I would put women’s basketball above softball and gymnastics at KY. They brought in Coach Brooks and remodeled Memorial coliseum. UK spent $82 million on the Coliseum which is used by volleyball, gymnastics and women’s basketball. It is the #3 expenditure in the athletics budget.
Football
Men’s Basketball
Women’s Basketball
Baseball
Volleyball
Football
Men’s Basketball
Women’s Basketball
Baseball
Volleyball

Softball outdraws women's basketball 2 to 1
Thats a lie, it also diminishes any credibility(if you even had any) your other “facts” might would have brought to the discussion.

Home attendance for Alabama women’s basketball (2023-24) and softball (2024).
Women’s basketball: 43,065; 2,393/game
Softball: 100,898; 3,737/game
You gotta do your homework to battle SoG over stats.
Based on money invested, the athletic department prioritizes wbball over softball.
Based on attendance, fans prioritize softball over wbball.

Apologies, they out draw them 1.6 to 1.
Are you truly arguing that fan following of women's basketball is in the same stratosphere as softball?

Absolutely. Though, in terms of the average spending of the sport at large, we certainly spend at the top level of college softball whereas we are more in the middle of SEC women's basketball (well behind the programs that take it very seriously).
It all makes what Curry has done with that program (especially considering what she inherited) all the more impressive.

Investment plus tv ratings. ESPN televised women’s basketball at a much higher rate than softball especially in the sec. It’s pretty close to impossible to find the tv numbers for softball but I’m pretty sure no sec softball program can rival women’s bball right now.

Fan following in general. I didn’t know this was based solely on attendance, I was assuming tv ratings schollys and money spent are included in what makes the sport popular, I doubt any sec softball team can outdraw women’s bball in tv ratings much less at a 2-1 clip.

Based on the data out there, the average viewership for last year’s WCWS was 1.1 million viewers per game.
The average for Women’s March Madness was 2.2 million viewers per game.
BUT, that includes 18.9 million who tuned into the finals to watch Caitlyn Clark. Last years finals had practically twice the viewers of any other finals in history. The women’s final had more viewers than the men’s final. Caitlyn Clark and that game were an anomaly.
If you take away the 19 million who watched that game it looks like 1.1 vs 1.7.

The women's final will certainly be down on ratings from last year, but it will be higher than it was pre-Clark. There is a huge, increased national interest in the game even beyond Clark, but ratings will go down, just like they did in the men's game the year after the Bird-Magic final. Don't have that generational player to bring in the casual or traditionally non-fans.

That math don’t math though. If you take away the biggest game for one you have to do it to the other as well, from 64-16 the wncaa averaged around 2 mil, the ncaa w don’t even include those rounds would would drop the average, but not even including that, the actual finals of the cws drew over 2 million(record setting numbers btw) if you pull that 2mil viewer game out, the softball numbers plummet too.

Here is the actual math.
There were 15 WCWS games with a total viewership of approximately 17 million viewers.
17,000,000/15 = 1,133,000 viewers per game
If you take away two million viewers.
15,000,000/15 = 1,000,000

We must have different definitions for the word plummet.
