No just switched before the game and haven’t switched back. I think I’ll keep it till we win to remind myself that we’re still Arkansas

The winner will still get no respect. And I like that. I like being the underdog.

Neither team will get into the T5 until Miami, Oregon, or Penn State lose. That is the "system"

They should but bama will go in their place

The AP poll means absolutely jack shite.
The only ranking that matters won’t come out until Nov. 5.

I don't think LSU moves in the polls much by winning this weekend. It'll be other games farther down the road that help them creep up. Aggies would get a decent bump from beating LSU, but then they're in the same spot - waiting on whoever loses between a couple of match ups to get out of the way.
Ohio St @ Penn St on Nov 2nd
Tenn @ UGA on Nov 16th
Those two games will open up spots for whichever team wins this weekend. If LSU wins this weekend, they would probably jump Tennessee by beating Bama on Nov 9th.
Texas @ aTm Nov 30th
It may take winning this game for the aggies to get into the top 5 if they're undefeated in conf, and this game determines who goes to Atlanta.

Not top 5 . Say Aggie would be in top 10 though . Pretty evenly matched teams so will not jump too far either way

Not worth worrying about until after the game

If this was a balanced playoff system with 16 teams, the SEC would have five teams in.
The BIG would probably get four. And the ACC Big 12 and others wound get the remaining seven.
There are going to be 4-5-6 teams this year that end 6-2 in conference play.
Someone is getting g left out.

they both have one loss early in the year.. so their resume is kinda the same
In as much as Northern Illinois and Notre Dame are the same.

I’m not saying what should or should not happen. Just a general commentary using A&M as an example.
I don’t like the precedence of scheduling a tough marquee non-conference opponent causing such a drag on a resume. What’s A&M ranking if we played incarnate word instead of Notre dame week 1? I think tough out of conference games should be encouraged/rewarded like in basketball. Perhaps playoff rankings take this into account though.

Not even concerned about ranking. I hope our team is 100% focused on the game Saturday.
For me getting to play in Atlanta is more important than any ranking in week 9.

I’m not “concerned” either. The current format literally puts full control into a teams hands for an SEC school. Win all your SEC games and you’re in. No beauty pageant.
Still fun/interesting to talk about.

Whether or not you agree with Notre Dame’s ranking, these are the parameters by which things are measured, and the polls think they’re one of the best teams in the nation,

The Aggies? No. Aggies will stay at 14 if they win out the season.

I think the two main factors are, it depends on how Texas responds from Saturday and the score margin of LSU vs aggy.
But games this week:
FSU @ Miami
Illinois @ Oregon
Wisconsin @ Penn St
Any of those teams can get upset and LSU will definitely get into top 5 if they win. Less likely for a&m.

Should, but won’t happen….the media is in love with Penn State, Oregon, etc

Yes, unless it's A&M.

CFP Rankings Come out on November 5th. The AP may have the winner ranked 8-9 but in the committees eyes they'd be ranked 3rd. Who knows?
This is the reality. So much of the AP poll is based around a bunch of sportswriters who only see a few games and look at their sheet from last week and move a few teams around that won or lost while leaving everyone else about the same. They are even lazier now that the poll is meaningless and becomes a complete afterthought the moment the CFP poll comes out.
The CFP Rankings are a full reset. They will look at every team and what they have done to this point and start from scratch. Preseason ranking means next to nothing. It's about what have you done and how are you playing. That's when the disparities are likely to come out.
Reality if A&M wins against LSU they are sitting at 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the SEC as the only undefeated SEC team. They will have won at least 3 of those SEC games by 10 plus, 2 true road games, and 2 wins over teams that were Top 10 at the time. Stats for A&M are also solid in terms of offense and defense and scoring. You can of course pick apart the resume but the same could be applied to every team in the Top 10. There is no question that among the undefeated teams A&M would also be undefeated with most of their schedules as well outside of Oregon and OSU. Really the only team that would have a strong argument of the SEC teams at that point would be Georgia and if A&M wins convincingly against LSU that looks questionable as well.
Anyway, none of it matters for now. Just win and it will work out. A&M is paying the price for having disappointed in the past and that's fine but the reality is this team has little in common with last year's team much less before that. The only way to change that is to prove it on the field.
