Alabama almost certainly wins when healthy, but you go to war with the army you have, not the one that you want. Georgia was the slightly better team with Williams out

If they were in the game would they have had the same players covering them? What had Williams done prior to that injury? His big pass was a busted coverage, prior to that he was pretty quiet.

You have 100 4 & 5 star backups. Injuries are part of the game. You just got beat period.
Like Ricky Bobby says-
“If you ain’t first, you’re last”

I'm not sure what you're suggesting here, are you saying UGA put in worse players to cover Bama's receivers because they were backups?

What had Williams done prior to that injury?

Maybe I'm old fashioned but 4 catches for 65 yards in 17 min is worth noting.

No, I'm suggesting Kirby covered Bama's bigger threats with his best defenders. The injury allowed Kirby to shut down Bama's TE's, it was obvious from the start that UGA wasn't going to be beat deep.

Minus the busted pass , Williams had 3 catches for 25 yards.

And they still couldn't get it in the endzone with him in the game.

If you want to play what-if, consider this.

If the Auburn running back had stayed in bounds, Bama would have got the ball back with 40 seconds less and probably would not have won the game, would not have won the west, would not have played in the SEC Championship game and would not have been in the playoffs.

But he did and they got hurt and that is that.

Wellll their TE was their leading receiver soooo.

They did get beat deep by Williams once, and a couple of other guys who dropped the ball.

Minus my balls I'm a woman, even still that's a 12 catch 100 yard pace. Not to mention the way his presence affects how the defense can play even if he isn't catching passes.

Does Bama get the starting CBs and Jase McClellan back as well? If so then yes they win easily. UGA had ZERO impactful injuries this year and it neutralized the playing field.

If UGA had a 100% George Pickins all year and a 100% Dominic Blaylock this year would Bama have stood a chance in either game?

You play who you have. Develop more quality depth at WR like UGA.

Anyone who thinks the Metchie and Jameson injuries did not impact the game is kidding themselves. Both were the go-to, explosive options that before injuries were guaranteed early draft picks. UGA clearly demonstrated, in both games, they had issues covering Jameson Williams. He is a dynamic playmaker.

NOW WITH THAT SAID, UGA earned the win last night. No other way to say it. They were the more physical team. They made explosive plays when they needed to. They got after BY early and often, and did a much better job getting off the field on 3d down. They did not panic, and stayed with their game plan. Nice win for the program and UGA nation.

No excuses. Twelve years we've ripped Longhorns fans for crying about Colt McCoy getting hurt. Shut up and play.

Only develop two wide receivers?? Sounds like a coaching issue. Dawgs played about a thousand receivers this year. Not to mention no Adam Anderson and other Dawgs not playing.

What you fail to mention is UGA lost its Top 3 WR and QB1 for most of the year. 3 of those four were 5 star recruits and UGA played with the hand they were dealt. They didn’t make excuses.
