He's been living off of LSU writing blank checks for assistants. Let's see how he does when the assistant talent drops off. LSU would be smart to take the OC and DC hiring and game plan decisions out of his hands.

Maybe. He still has accomplished more in 3 years at his current gig than mediocre programs sniff in 80 years.

That and their head coach is pushing 70. No coach has ever won a title at that age. And it will be used against them in recruiting. The end is near.....

He's likely UNDER rated judging not only by assembling the best team in CFB HISTORY, but also judging by all the positive things happening around the program on a daily basis. Watch and weep.

Good onside kick recovery to seal the game.

Maybe your second tier program can score on us in BR for the first time since 2014.

Since YOUUUUU and your ilk LOVE to relate history ad nauseum and what happened in your beloved PAST, I'll bite:

-LSU is not a "second-tier" program Einstein. We are 12th NATIONALLY in all-time victories and 7th NATIONALLY in bowl appearances, and we have the SECOND-MOST National Championships in the nation in the last quarter-century.

-LSU is 10-10 against you Skoal Drool Subhuman Things since 2000.
-During which ala-shame-a LOST to LSU in Tuscacrappa in: 2001,2003,2005,2007,2011, and 2019.
-If it wasn't for a fluke tipped INT early in the third quarter, when LSU was on your 35 getting ready to make it FORTY-13, the score wouldn't have been that close.
-LSU GAVE AWAY games to you Subhumans in 2008, 2012 and 2014.
-In the last quarter century, LSU has beaten you GumpNecks 11 times, came close to beating you 5 more times, and played you close in every game but 4: 1996, 2002, 2013 and 2018.
-Jump in a Tuscacrappa sewage plant.

I think the changes he has made in his philosophy speak volumes about his intelligence. Anyone who discounts that is just being dishonest. He is a character because of his voice and his appearance....if he looked and spoke like Nick Saban he would've been a head coach and a successful one years before Ole Miss....but there are only a couple of places where he can be seen as the head of a program and the most recognized face of a university...and LSU is the perfect match because LSU fans are normal people...despite their actions from September through January LOL.

Learning from mistakes is, in my mind, the most significant element of intellect that a man can possess and O apparently has done that to a very high level. I think the SEC is in for a rough ride at the hands of Coach O dammit....I hope I am wrong but last year was as impressive a turnaround as seen in sports within the same general staff.

Dammit man that kind of hurt can't be soothed with an ointment and a bandaide LOL.....but it has proven to be true thus far.

The thing about Kirby is that he seems to be able to learn...and hopefully he learned something watching O turn the ship last season. Time will tell but if doesn't he will not be the coach us UGA fans hope he is.

Anyone discounting O is doing so out of fear or simple wishful thinking. I hope he fails also.....I like his personae but I don't want LSU to be what they were last year EVER again LOL....but from an intellectual POV LSU is poised to be a GIANT...great recruiting base, great program support and a coach who has shown he can learn from mistakes....and is secure in his strengths and weaknesses...that is usually a recipe for success in any endeavor....plus you just have to like the guy....unless you are Alabama or TAM and then he is your steve spurrier apparently.....

I bet a coca cola right now that when Saban is done at Bama they win a Natty within 5 years with a new HC. They will take a step back but Bama has always been Bama....

I don't know but they have won natties with many different coaches....it is easy to hate Bama if you ain't Bama but discounting their success outside of Saban is just being a fan of a rival....it isn't based in logic. I hate Bama also...but the data speaks for itself.

I'll take that bet.

Great insight on your two previous posts btw. Bama will always be a factor no denying that, but a lot will depend on the next hire. Hire another Mike Shula and it will not happen. Saban built a machine, the likes that hasn’t been seen in a long long time. That’s not just gonna reappear.

He's probably one of those people who believes "[insert school] recruits itself".

No matter how much evidence to the contrary we have.

Is this what y’all have resorted to? “Oh well you can’t beat us in br” you freaking lost in the most recent matchup and we won the national championship. Nobody is sitting here thinking about 2014. Since you liked 2014 so much let’s talk about Zeke and the buckeyes drumming y’all.

Agreed Gt. Insightful post.

I love how all the Orgeron naysayers proclaim "Orgeron is not an 'Xs or Os' coach or is not great at 'Gameday' coaching decisions or schemes. Bullshite.

NO "HEAD" Coach is!
Coach O doesn't call plays (although he may approve some), but he is OVER the OC and the DC. He works on game plans DURING THE WEEK with the OC and the DC. He is MUCH better at clock management than his predecessor.
And he is a MASTER recruiter and motivator. His players would run though a brick wall for him.

He is the best at what he actually is - THE HEAD COACH.
Period. End of story.

Let's see. O can't recruit, coach, or cheat as well as Saban but still smoked saban in Tuscatoilet.
