spot on again.

AU is always one of those good teams on the radar and always in the top 10-20 teams in the country. They are not always in the top 5-10 and expected to compete for a title. And they need more than 1 instance in program history of consecutive 10 win seasons to be considered a "power".

That means your thread is essentially a debate on what constitutes a "blue blood" or a "national power".

Lets do it.

Yes. I consider the top 15ish programs all time to be powers.

Other than getting a hundred or so wins before Auburn even had a team, what is the difference between Michigan and Auburn? Michigan has like 1 national championship since WW1

No, not a national power. They're the next level down and that's about as good as it'll ever get for most teams. I'm not knocking them. They are light years ahead of our program.

Bama is our only national power now. Florida isn't far from being there. Maybe someday Tennessee will get back on track.

UGA, Auby, and LSU are the next level down. SCAR and Aggy are the only programs that could move up in to the level with UGA, Auby, and LSU.

The rest of us are a loooong ways away.

This is actually a great point.

Its off topic but what the frick has Michigan done lately?

And by lately I mean since after WW2?

Auburn is as big of a name in college football in 2018 as anyone.

Solid program. They seem to have very high highs and very low lows, but when it averages out, they are a solid program.

About sums it up. They are a national power insofar as they get a lot of discussion every year. If they are not in the mix, then they are usually fricking up someone else's run.

They are an occasional national power when their home schedule sets up nicely and/or they have a transfer, non-AU developed QB.

Blue blood? No, not by any measurable metric.
