Richt had to deal with Saban in 03 too. Kept him out of the Sugar Bowl.

yeah, arguably kept him out of the national title game. LSU and UGA both lost to Florida in 2003. UGA's other two losses were both to LSU. If UGA beats LSU in that first game, they play Ole Miss in the SECCG and likely win and play Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl for the national title.

for me it is about the same

hell, if anything, I may be LESS excited now; just because of the "godamitwearecursed" syndrome...

I'll take it. Not many years ago there's no way in hell we'd even be considered as having the remotest of a remote shot at it.

Kathryn Richt got the cancer right around the same time UGA started putting out some mediocre recruiting classes and seasons. I think he stopped caring to some extent after that.

Bama's made an appearance in every CFP so far, I feel pretty good about Alabama's chances.

It’s harder to win the CFP than it was to win the BCS. That one extra game is hard.

By extra game, you mean the SEC Championship game right? Oh wait ....

Expand it to nationally. How many programs nationally have a legitimate shot? I think the number is smaller than a lot of people might think.

Well even if you go back the past 20 or even 40 years it's for the most part the same teams. It's a league of haves and have nots. Sure you have some teams sneak in and win a title here and there like a Ga Tech, Colorado, Washington, BYU etc but it's harsee for that to happen with the playoffs.

The same schools will continue to win the titles. Alabama, Michigan, OSU and ND will be back. Even if you look at the top 25 from the last 40 years pre season it seems it's the same teams at the exact same ranking. So no I don't think their will be a miraculous change somehow and my team starts winning titles. We might play for one though. You gotta dream

LSU UGA A&M and UF all have a chance if they land a coach who can put it all together. Those states put out enough talent for at least one Championship. Teams that aren’t lucky enough to be situated in a talent hot bed, idk

That's how I feel if we had a solid coach and our recruiting went up a bit. I think we could get a lucky schedule or the advantage of a few good teams down. I don't think a SEC Championship is out of sight, but don't think we could get a Natty.

See I disagree . I think if you can get to the SEC title game, more times than naught you have the team to win it all.

I hate the term NATTY for a national championship and I'm not an elitist that thinks a man shouldn't wear a football jersey to the game

20 years or 20 months?

I think Bama will have 2 NCs in the next 20 months.

No, but I do envision another couple of seasons like 2014. In contention all the way till the end, just to crush our dreams in traditional Mississippi State fashion.

20 years? That's too much. Even Vandy could be a contender by then.

20 year AGO, Florida State, Miami and Nebraska were kings, Alabama was still relevant before sinking into it's long dark era, Washington, Colorado, Georgia Tech were still a relatively recent champions. UCF was barely in the FBS, three season removed from playing teams like Maine, Bethune Cookman and Carson Newman. Tennessee was the freaking NATIONAL CHAMPION. 20 year pretty much anything can happen.

Look at Auburn. They didn't have enough juice. Beat great teams and still missed out. Georgia fell short too. They will have better players than USC and Arkansas. Tough pill to swallow, but that's how I see it. No disrespect to you either with that.

I think initially it was more difficult. The SEC is a grind and playing 15 games is near a pro season. I'm not sure in 14 we handled it great. The semi-final game seems to always be against somebody that shouldn't be there but the championship is a bitch.

There's lots of travel involved in a week's time too. U may play in California, come home and leave in 3 days for Arizona. I think we've about gotten a schedule down now that makes it easier every year.

Very optimistic, but I expected a dropoff in 2003 due to losing a ton to graduation, but it didnt really happen. Spurrier had just left, Fulmer was going downward, and there was no Saban at Bama, so that helped with confidence.

Yes,Saban changed EVERYTHING and he (Richt)didn't have the desire or willpower to adjust but the administration at UGA didn't back em up as well.McGarity and Adams both played the moral superiority card and it failed miserably.
