UGA will likely blank AU- they may not score at all.
UA will be looking to make a statement in their only game of note that they didn't lose- they may beat AU by 40. The defense will tire and those receivers will go off late in the game.

At 8-4 and AU losing every game of substance except Oregon- AU fans will buy him a ticket and pull a moving truck up to his house.

This is extremely unlikely, but if this were the case (two dominating blowouts) Gus is going to feel heat regardless.

Even though we can sit here and say 8-4 is enough for Gus, in reality, money people are emotional too. If they have to sit through two blowouts to our rivals at home, things will get very rocky and that Arkansas side door is going to look very attractive.

Who in their right mind actually thinks Arkansas would offer GM again?

My Dudes, he has some of the most fertile recruiting ground in the nation at Auburn, not so at Arkansas...

His offensive philosophy is no longer innovative, it has been figured out by the upper echelon schools.
Heck, his offense isn't what is the strongest thing about their team... ANd he is the offensive genius?

He is arrogant, stubborn, and is married to that Psycho.

DO NOT WANT!

Truth

Not so much figured-out, but I think those schools have the athletes on defense to defend it.

Not even close. It hasn't been for a few years

All true.

Gus is Auburn’s Mark Richt. Doesn’t do well enough to keep fans satisfied but doesn’t do bad enough to where you can fire him. He’s always capable of putting a run together but also capable of going 8-4.

Mark Richt averaged 10 wins per year when Florida was a power and Tennessee wasn't a dumpster fire. Malzahn couldn't hold his jock strap

No. Auburn won't be able to find anyone better than Gus.

Even at 8-4, probably would not fire, but if Arkie is willing to take him off our hands (possibly buying us out), I think we could do at least as well.

Does the board think Gus' leaving on his own (if it happens) changes the perception of the Auburn job and make it more attractive than if he's canned? Certainly let's us keep $27 mil in the coffers/superboosters' pockets.

Kevin Steele has done a pretty good job. Gus is in charge of the offense and it has been awful this year against relevant teams.

If Gus walks who are the top 3 guys Auburn goes after? Who’s better than Gus and available? It’s a big risk going to a young and up and comer when you have a guy who will compete in the toughest conference on occasion.

I really hope our new AD isn't stupid enough to actually entertain Gus's bullshite, even if our BOT tries again

I would actually be ok with this.

Please do it. He would have a few early good moments and then burn your program to the ground. I hope after AU someone else in the conference also hires him. It's mind boggling this guy is held in good regard as a HC.

Would Arkansas really offer Gus over 7 million a year?

I can't see a scenario where Auburn expends much energy/resources to keep him at this point... I do think it's a weird conundrum because the ramifications are pretty big to lose a coach within your own division... if he builds something solid at Arkansas and AU doesn't get the hire right, you'd look back kicking yourself...

BUT... Auburn fans have been bipolar on the guy for so long and you kinda know what you've got... you're either ok with the roller coaster ride that typically sits in the 8-9 win range but could plummet or rise in any given year (inversely proportional to expectations ) - or you're not.

He is to Arkansas what Orgeron is at LSU. He is the hometown guy.

And 8-4 at Auburn is grounds for dismissal. At Arkansas, it's a great season.

If Arky is thinking about it, They better call the donors in a meeting and get it done.
