A change may not be the worst thing for AU.

Are you getting top 5 play consistently out of a GUS coached team?
I ask because you are paying that in salary.
My personal opinion is no and have been lucky to get top 12-15 other than one year. Sure it was a good run in 17 and an amazing run on 13. But overall 17 included a shite ton of luck.
So one sec championship in 7 years. You know what you are getting and you know what you are paying for.
With Gus you will always be average with an exceptional year sprinkled on every 5 years or so where you win the west. If consistently being 3rd or 4th on average in the west is worth it, stick with him.
Overall he causes saban problems and Auburn will never be Bama consistently or even LSU or UGA or UF. Those programs have built in advantages, but I don't see a problem with going and getting a good young recruiting machine.
Look saban is going to retire prolly in next 3 years. Getting your guy in there and letting him get established and recruiting lights out will help get the jump on bama when that time comes.
Tldr: Let his arse walk.

Any questions about going both ways probably needs to be directed to texag7 don't they?

Pretty sure he only goes one way...the receiving end of the glory hole.

Let him walk and bring in Lane Kiffin.

True, he's probably a power bottom

Gus beats Auburn 2 or 3 games a year now. At Arky he would only beat you once a year. Buy him a ticket on Trailways.

There is a big discussion on th Auburn board that we should let Gus go if Arkansas comes calling and he tries to use that as leverage for a bigger contract. Most Auburn fans think we should let him go, so I ask the bigger board - do you let Gus go?
Absolutely.
Don't get in a bidding war.
If Arkansas wants to take Gus, they can have him.
*opinion may change if Gus miraculously beats Bama and UGA

Let him walk... the only reason he is here now is because of a miracle bounced pass and a kick return.

This is exactly why it would be dumb to get in a bidding war. Already overpaying for Gus as it is.

Yes. If Gus shows interest, let him go. He hasn't won anything of significance other than his very first season. Get out of that buyout.
Lane Kiffin would be a homerun hire.

I was with you except this part. The all-time records say otherwise. Auburn has and should always be consistent with these programs. That's why Gus is on the hotseat to start with.

RUMOR: Arkie is offering 6-7 years @ 7 million, fully guaranteed. (42 Million)
FACT: End of year, Auburn Contract 5 Years, 7 million, 75% guaranteed. (26 Million)
Auburn may demand 7 Million for him to leave.
Let him walk..

If he loses to UGA and Bama, and Arkansas still wants him, it might be a good parting for everyone. Auburn fans will not be happy about 8-4 and he'll be on the hot seat (for real this time) next season. He'll be facing a tough task of some rebuilding in the trenches, with the rivals away. The buyout will be yet another year lower and coming off an 8-4 season he'll probably need at least 9 wins to keep his job.
In that scenario, it's a departure that probably suits all sides.
If he beats UGA or Alabama, then it's a little more mixed. AU people won't be as harsh on him, even if we still think there are long term doubts. He won't have leverage to negotiate, but going 9-3, perhaps 10-3 against this schedule probably means he can survive an 8-4 next season. The chatter may still be out there but I don't think he'll feel much in the way of serious heat.
I really only see this becoming a tough choice if Gus wins one of the final 2 games (or both). But I think it's pretty likely he declines to flirt with Arkansas in that situation, because he knows getting one of those wins will give him some breathing room.
Arkansas is a good safety valve for Gus (good money, nice location, familiarity, major conference), but I've seen nothing to really indicate that's a dream job of his or that he'd be interested in it over Auburn, even for marginally more money.

I wouldn’t fire him but if he is wants to leave then Auburn should let him go and move on. They could potentially get a better hire for the money .
