There is a big discussion on th Auburn board that we should let Gus go if Arkansas comes calling and he tries to use that as leverage for a bigger contract. Most Auburn fans think we should let him go, so I ask the bigger board - do you let Gus go?

My thoughts are yes, but there are not a whole lot of options out there who are better than Gus so it would be tricky.

You're already paying him $7m a year. What more can you do?

I think that you do. I mean, after 7 years, we know who Gus is. We know what to expect. He’s not changing his offense. He’s just not. Even under the threat of termination, he’s going to run his scheme. We will never get to 50% against the big three with Gus at the helm. If he can out talent you, he looks amazing. If he can’t, then he’s got no plan B.

Sometimes it’s not about the money. Gus is a razorback. He’s one of them. I think he doesn’t feel appreciated in Auburn.

Will Arkansas pay his mega buyout? If so, maybe. But, you guys have unrealistic expectations. The schedule was murder this year. Gus has done a pretty good job this year imo.

Gus won't ask for a bigger contract. But if he wants to walk away from what he has, Auburn will probably say okey dokey.

I thought he only has a buyout if they fire him?

Chump change for arkansas if they are willing to pay him in the range of $7m a year.

If he loses to Bama or UGA and asked nicely, I bet Auburn would cut that number down.

Buyouts go both ways don't they? It's what makes them fair and Saban didn't want one.

A lot of times the coaches don't have to pay anything if they leave early.

Isn't a large part of Saban's deal guaranteed? It's true that he doesn't owe UA a penny if he leaves on his own.

Doesn't sound very fair to me.
