Depends entirely on the player, their personality and skill level and their history. Hated Cam Newton as a player because he played against LSU in the SEC and then against the Saints in the NFL. I would vomit in my mouth whenever I heard the name Landon Collins. Don't like Kyle Pitts. But there are far more players that I do root for in all sports, especially in baseball and basketball.

Once they're done with college, why not. Who doesn't like King Henry for example. Granted, it's a little harder with him at Baltimore now.
