WAYYY too early to tell. After one game, 2025, but the 2019 defense improved over the course of the year and was solid by the time they reached the playoffs. We'll see how this year's squad fares, but happy so far!
We have a huge tailgate and we usually feed opposing fans. You might get some ribbing and a "tiger bait!", but we have fun and there's no rock throwing. It's the dumb asses that ruin it for everyone.

No, it isn't. That's why I'm happy with what happened. It's shitheads like that that give the rest of us a bad rep.
Yeah, that little shite deserved that. That was just obnoxious.

Seriously, there were three horrible calls (or no calls) in the game and two of them were from the replay officials in B'ham, not Gautreaux: the catch/fumble, the TD reversal and there was a blatant grounding that wasn't called. All went against LSU, of course.
Nope. Do not disagree. TD Green is going to be a problem, too.

From CFN:

6 LSU

Record: 1-0
Last Week Ranking: 8
Last Game: LSU 17, Clemson 10
Up Next: Louisiana Tech

And now LSU has a defense? Uh oh. There's a real chance this is embarrassingly low.

I like this one. We have all season to move up to #1. As long as we FINISH #1, don't care.

Arch Manning has been put in an impossible situation by the media hype machine. I credit his family for doing what they could to shield him from it, but he will have to surpass his uncles as a player to not be deemed a failure in a lot of peoples’ eyes, which is unfortunate for him as a person.

This
I saw him play at Newman and worked the broadcast crew with ESPN on a game where he played against a good HS team from Florida. The book on him is that he struggles against top competition. That seems to still be the case. I wondered if him looking pedestrian against the tougher schools at the HS level had to do with the talent that he had around him at Newman and whether that would improve at the college level at Texas. So far, it seems to be the same. He is a good player. He is nowhere near what he has been hyped up to be. Look for him to put up big numbers against the relatively weak schedule that they have coming up and for the hype to ramp back up, but the jury is still out on whether or not he can do it against the big boys.

And Corso picked all 3 of those correctly.
You're right, and it wasn't just the game, it was the circumstances. It was a HOME game in the desert that I watched in Orlando. We had booked the trip before the storm and weren't going to go with everything going on, but we had family who had evacuated, our house was mostly undamaged and we had gotten power back, so we just gave them our house and went on the trip for a break. The chaos of that game seemed to mirror the chaos at home a little and seeing it end well was good for the soul.
I'll add one more that goes with the "Iron Sharpens Iron" perspective: by all accounts the D Line this year is excellent. Going up against those guys in practice will only help the OL improve.

you're hoping the preseason AP is way off and a lot of the teams expected to be good will not be

No, you're hoping that they ARE that good and you beat them anyway.
Even if the offense is struggling against this defense, it's good that they have a great defense to go up against in practice, it will just make them better.
2011 Auburn game is the first one that comes to mind. The Auburn players were visibly shaken, especially their receiving team on kickoffs.
Sending us Loomis would confirm that the Saints hate LSU.

Wonder if the 35 roster limit is going to put a premium on duel position players like Beck & Guidry?

With the attention that Ohtani is getting in the bigs, I could see a premium on guys like Jake Brown who can play a position and also pitch if needed.
Damn good game, but Game 1 in 2009 again Texas may have been better. Mattock and D.J Lemahieu were so damn clutch in that game.

But that Wake game...damn. It's tough. We've been blessed to see a lot of great games over the years. 1996 walk off has to be up there, too.
1991. Some of my Army buddies were fans and were following their run in Omaha. After that I followed them when they were on TV and when I moved to Baton Rouge in 1993 I went as often as I could, usually just grabbing tix with the Left Field Lunatics. My wife bought me season tickets for graduation in 1997 and the rest is history. :geauxtigers:

Actually, the portal, NIL and simply being LSU makes it far more likely that more titles are coming. With a coach that is now not only proven but consistent, top 5 classes every year (often #1) and the ability to add pieces like Skenes, Dickinson, Eyanson, Stanfield, Tommy Banks, Zac Cowan and others through the portal make it likely that the road to Omaha will continue o go through Baton Rouge.

In answer to your question, at least 4 years.
