What is Angel Reece doing that a Candace Parker or Britney Griner haven’t already done?

"Time for the NBA to share..." Besides the NBA League itself subsidizing the WNBA to the extent that money is keeping the League afloat, individual players are putting money up as well. The players just aren't going to make it any kind of 50 / 50 split of revenues. What is odd is that the NBA Commish has said that the average WNBA fan is a middle-aged male. Where are all the feminists / lesbians?

Well, you're gonna hate this but they are about to get a big influx of cash from TV. With MLS moving to Apple TV, it opened the networks for summer programming and WNBA viewership went way up this year because the space was vacated and they were basically the only choice, and its pretty going to stay that way without MLS on cable.

They have no sports comp on TV in the summer now, because baseball has its regional networks deals, and only puts on a few national games weekly. ESPN and ABC allotted time to sports they do not have the content to fill, because summer is out of season for new sitcoms. Combine that with the writers' and actors' strikes, I guarantee, it was probably a record year for WNBA viewership and maybe attendance.

Even when they come back though, cable makes most new tv for Fall and Spring, so ESPN and ABC are about to force feed you WNBA every summer until they can't hoping people are so sports deprived they will tune in.

Well said. It seems like a lot of people on here don’t want to realize just how big of a deal Angel Reese is and how much she is changing the sport. It’s wild really. I just found out today that she just signed a Reeboks NIL deal, the first athlete for them to sign. I feel like I hear something like that about her every week lol This girls on a roll.

Nah. When she is gone women's college basketball won't be any farther than it was before her. There have been plenty of women's college basketball stars bigger than her. They just didn't get NIL.

And she will be in WNBA obscurity when she leaves LSU. Brittany Griner is more famous for being in a Russian jail than playing basketball.

Fact is there is no real or artificial barrier preventing women from being in the NBA other than none are good enough. I’m sure they try just as hard though.

I didn't say anything about NIL, especially not relying on a web site's estimate.

The future is worth much more.

Why would the player with the ring be jealous of the one that doesn't?

Reese should have hugged the one that doesn’t for knocking South Carolina out of the championship game or we still would have never heard of her.

And yet in the pantheon of cultural importance, the WNBA and/or women's basketball in general is likely sandwiched between the ShamWOW and the Indian from the Village People.

I don’t think this comparison is fair. In their respective eras, it was much easier to find SHAMWOW and the Indian in the media than it is to find a WNBA game on TV.

She’s got the woke crowd approved grievance peddling down perfectly. Always playing victim and pushing whatever agenda she’s been trained to push.

She's absolutely right.

Problem is you aren't as talented and it shows. It's an ugly, awful game to watch, which is why most people don't.

What a stupid retort.

Wake me up when Arkansas wins something in a team sport.

I see nothing to disagree with in that quote. Women can put in the same effort.

They just can't get the same results.

Jealous? Shaq literally just signed her with Reebok. I’m pretty sure she’s not worried about a girl she beat last year

Angel Reese ... she's the Dawn Staley activist of women players in the league. She's the Megan Rapinoe of women's college basketball ... actually, she's the activist spokewoman of all of women's college sports.
