I don't think any LSU fans I know bought into the Boot rivalry thing, I quite like Arkansas tbh. When I lived in the Mississippi delta I knew some southern Arkansas guys who really hated LSU and definitely considered us their rival but I don't think they are representative of Arkansas as a whole and also they also hated Old Mrs

I've always considered it a rivalry. Granted, I think it's lost some of it's luster not being on Thanksgiving week. Most Arkansas fans I know despise Texas more than any team though.

At one time their was a few Arkansas players each year that wanted to go to LSU but didn't get a scholarship. So, they always played harder to beat LSU.

Arkansas doesn't really have a true rival in the SEC. The closest one is Ole Miss. It was heated enough that both programs wouldn't play each for 20 years.

Lived my early years in south Arkansas, and never gave a thought about them until the Hogs joined the SEC. Didn't even realize how many times they had played in the previous generations. Would get TV stations from north Louisiana (Monroe/Shreveport), and they covered the Tigers/Hogs about the same before then, but it didn't really seem strange because they never played each other in anything.

It was a manufactured rivalry that younger Razorback fans probably began to put importance on because it was always the last game of the season, and something needed to replace Texas.

There is a lot of crossover between south Arkansas and north Louisiana people, so that's probably where it's the biggest thing.

The delta area probably cares more about the game with Ole Miss.

The older folks still can't get over Texas.

Don't think the northern part even really cares about Missouri.

In sum, it differs by region, but Arkansas really has no rival.

For me, yes but for personal reasons rather than cultural. My two best friends are both LSU fans so naturally I hate LSU. Outside of that reason, I don't see LSU as more of a rival than anyone else in the SEC West, although I do think the trophy is awesome and I'm all for trophy games. I also miss the Friday after Thanksgiving game and I couldn't give less of a frick about Mizzou.

Manufactured rivalries by insurance companies are the worst. Unlike the Missouri game, the LSU games had prior history.

I don't have nothing against Missouri. It is hard to have a rivalry against them when you don't hate them.

This is why Texas was hated, they always had all the power and control. At one time being the only non Texas school will do that.

Not true! Arkansas have teams in the Big 12! That's where Arkansas will fit in nicely!

When you guys start beating tbem again every other year or two, they'll consider you their rival!

P.S. that applies to UA, AU, UM, MSU, TEXA&M U. as well!

LSU was a far more entertaining Thanksgiving game that we all looked forward too, now we have to play a Big 12 team each year and it's not worth waking up in the morning.. hence why we have lost all of them.

This is the right answer, along with most everything tkeefer said. When Arkansas entered the SEC, most of us had no idea that we'd played LSU so many times. While it was LSU that spoiled our national championship hopes in the '65 Cotton Bowl, and it was LSU who we beat before changing our mascot to "Razorbacks", that '65 game was the last time Arkansas/LSU had played. All but a few of the games occurred before 1950.

Texas was our big rival in the SWC and they refused to play us after we left. We needed a game to replace Texas and most Arkansas fans just looked to Tennessee. Unlike LSU, we did consider Ole Miss a rival, but Tennessee was much better back then, so the Tennessee game was more enticing.

When the Boot was first proposed, no one liked it. Many were saying that it should at least be Ole Miss, although Missy already had a big rival. The Boot was introduced in '96, but Arkansas fans continued looking at Tennessee as the big game, until two things happened. The first was that LSU began producing great teams, so the LSU game was finally as enticing as Tennessee. Then the SEC removed the 2nd cross-division opponent, so we no longer played Tennessee.

I'm not sure that I consider LSU a rival in the traditional sense, but I do love beating them now that they produce good teams. When LSU begins sucking again, I'll no longer care, though.

Even when Arkansas beats LSU (2007, 2014) they still can’t beat Mizzou

Fact is we just own you and you aren’t even as interesting or hated a rival or Nebraska or Kansas

Since Arkansas joined the SEC, the team that they have performed the best against given the talent disparity that usually exists between the two programs is Auburn. Arkansas has actually been 11-16-1 against Auburn since they joined the conference and had their fair share of blowout wins and stretches of dominating the series.

Bert and Gus seemed to really dislike each other for a second there, but Gus has mostly been able to beat Arkansas while at Auburn pretty handily, except for that one game that had like five overtimes.

The 1960 game. Referee Tommy Bell called a timeout in an effort to quiet hog fans. Ole Miss kicker Allen Green did not hear the whistle and kicked it between the uprights 10-7. After the timeout Ole Miss fans argued that Bell signaled the kick was good as soon as Green connected with the ball. Arkansas fans argued the kick was no good. Fighting broke all around the stadium. So the series was last played in Jackson the next year. It was cancelled until both teams renewed it in 1981.

The Ole Miss game was the biggest rivalry only second to Texas. It was so heated that both programs refused to play each other until 1981.

We should be rivals in baseball but LSU has sucked lately.

We have a superior basketball program but don’t recruit well enough in football.

Rivalry declined.

It would have grown into a rivalry, if the game was still played day after thanksgiving.
I always kind of liked lsu. Your fans are obnoxious though.
