He doesn’t need to recruit that well to be great. He never had top recruiting class at Mississippi state, but developed them into a team that blew out LSU at home. Now he’s in Florida, so yeah shite is going to get real.

I think it is hilarious that the fans of whichever team is recruiting well always has to bring recruiting discussions to the rant. And it usually involves Florida since we have the best recruits in the nation, are one of the best public universities in the nation, and have one of the best athletic programs in the nation, but for some reason we have never been able to recruit outside of cheating Charley Pell and slimy Urban Meyer.
So I will bite.
Yes, I think Mullen will recruit well enough to win a title at UF. As a matter of fact, I think if you put Joe Burrow on our team last year, he may have gotten us over the top. Mullen has had 2 QB's start games at Florida and both of them have issues. Franks held the ball too long and made terrible decisions. Trask is slow as molasses and doesn't have a strong arm. I do love Trask as he is a gamer and not afraid to let it rip and throw into traffic, which is not always good, but I would rather have that than a guy who is hesitant like Franks.
So I think we need to improve our OL, but really we are a really good QB away from competing for a title.
If a coach wins 10 games a year and finishes in the top 10, he isn't doing too bad. Is there another coach in the SEC who can claim this?

Mullen had a lead on LSU at LSU. He’s not the best recruiter, but he is the best X’s and O’s coach I’ve seen.

Can you rephrase this? It sounds like you’re asking if any coach in the SEC can win ten games and finish in the top ten.

Depends what they want. Last 3 years Mullen has had the 4th, 5th, and 6th ranked classes....in the league. It's kinda like richt that recruited at a top 10 level but always 4th jr 5th in the SEC.
Mullen is improving them over mcelwain but they're a long way off from beating uga/lsu/bama all in a season, plus playoffs.
If where they want to be is winning the east then maybe, although they still aren't recruiting near as good as the division leader. If they want to win a natty they definitely arenkt recruiting well enough.
So, what you're saying is, Kirby would need 6 and 7 star recruits to win a natty?

He recruited like crap at MSU and they gave the SEC fits many times. Ranked #1 for one week iirc. Mullen in probably the best OC/QB coach in the league. Dak Prescott should pay Mullen royalties for his development.

don't think the Big Three Florida schools are gonna get back to where they were recruiting wise any time soon.
IDK.UF should be cleaning up in the state.
FSU and Miami have no where near the advantages of UF these days.
Clamson,Bama and UGA and are all pulling premium players out of there.

Spurrier recruited very well in the mid 90's and Muschamp killed it as well as Zook.
Not sure about Galen Hall but there was definitely talent when Spurrier got there.

Yea not sure what he is talking about.
Zook recruiting insanely well here
Muschamp recruited studly defenses and QBs(development was the issue). He really missed on skill position players though for some reason

CMR's recruiting fell off dramatically from '10 to '13 and Saban and Boom were cleaning up.Not sure if Richt got lazy or just got outworked by both those guys.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: No fricking way. Get your head out of your arse.

Dan has proven that he can win and be competitive with a roster full of 3 stars. All he needs to do is get enough 4* players in his system to compete for a natty year after year.

Proven he can win with 3 stars? He was 2-15 vs ranked teams while at MSU.

Mullen clearly isn’t a recruiting savant and I think he’s a little overrated as a game day coach.
Posted on 5/9/20 at 4:54 pm to Porter Osborne Jr
But he blew out LSU that one time with Dak

He's very overrated. I know Freeze had more talent, but he took MuLLen to school in the 2014-15 Egg Bowls

Depends upon where they want to be

It’s like LSU fans remember that one time he whipped their arse and that’s all they base it on.

You mean paying premium players? Because that's what is really going on. And Mullen needs to find him some bagmen, before it's too late.
