Tennessee has closed the gap with Florida more than Florida has closed the gap with Georgia.

Depends what they want. Last 3 years Mullen has had the 4th, 5th, and 6th ranked classes....in the league. It's kinda like richt that recruited at a top 10 level but always 4th jr 5th in the SEC.
Mullen is improving them over mcelwain but they're a long way off from beating uga/lsu/bama all in a season, plus playoffs.
If where they want to be is winning the east then maybe, although they still aren't recruiting near as good as the division leader. If they want to win a natty they definitely arenkt recruiting well enough.

I think his ideal scenario is when they have a solid upperclassmen core and a few difference makers they can compete with anyone. Most years they will be good but not elite.
They clearly won't be every year contenders for the playoff/SEC title, just not enough depth of elite talent.
But as noted above, Tennessee is another class away from being closer to them 1-85 talent wise than they are to Georgia.

No. The Church of Scientology has its limitations in the south. He would do better if he were coaching one of the California schools.

Scientology is so '90s. The big thang in East Tennessee are the God-fearin' snake churches.

I don't think the Big Three Florida schools are gonna get back to where they were recruiting wise any time soon. Pandora's box isn't closing again

There was a time when the FLA schools were so dominant, you expected one of them to win the NC every damn year.

Florida’s new facility is going to help, but there’s certainly some discontent among the fan base re: the level of recruiting. It should be better than it is.

FSU had very highly rated classes under Fisher, but lots of them didn't pan out. Miami has been hovering around 10th nationally for a while I believe

I think Dan is a good coach. He develops players pretty well. Has a good eye for diamonds in the rough.
My biggest knock and concern for him is his recruiting and offseason roster management. Those are both holding him back from getting over the hump to the playoffs. He seems to have issues every year with kids getting kick off the team, transfers and loses out on big recruits. I think his staff has too much baggage right now and not enough high quality recruiters
maybe it’s just me but I personally get the feeling he doesn’t try extremely hard to go after the big fish on the recruiting trail unless they already really want to be at Florida.

He's not good in big games imo. He got absolutely schooled by Freeze in the 2014-15 Egg Bowls. Dude was running QB draws down two scores

Grantham is recruiting the defense well enough (2019 and 2020 class). They just have to mature.
On offense? Mullen seems to pulling in highly recruited transfers. But the recruiting classes are about GT level in offense. I don't think he can get it done on offense.

He better figure it while FSU is down. Recruiting will get much tougher if Norvell turns things around in Tallahassee.

We’ll see this year

Last year we beat Tenn by 30
You beat us by 7
You are an idiot.

No. They will be solid every year. But he can’t recruit on an elite level. With Florida, FSU, and Miami in a strange place, there is open season in the state of Florida. Alabama has a pipeline in Miami. It’s crazy.

We have as many four and five stars as Clemson has their first title on the roster.
So it's possible. It be nice if we landed a few more elite prospects for sure though we are all annoyed by it.
Mullen develops well though, and he is pulling top ten classes, and utilizes the portal as well as anyone in the country. You guys act like he is barely making the top 20. Dude added 4 five stars to the roster last class and 16 four stars.

If you played in the ACC, it wouldn’t be much of an issue.
VOLS would have the clear 2nd most talented roster in the ACC.

Then what holding Tennessee back from going to the ACC?
