I see a back that runs lower closer to the line of scrimmage that gets off tackles close to the line better than Henry does. He also at the same time is phenomenal in the open field. Most others see this as well. This is why he will be a top half the first round pick. Look, I am not bashing Henry. Just giving my reasoning of why I dont think he will be great in the NFL. I also never said he would have a short career
Follow my post in here. I have been extremely complimentary of Henry
Yea - I agree - I think LF has the abilities to be a star in the NFL. Derrick is built a little differently than most backs, has some really incredible traits but also a few that will probably trip him up (literally) at the next level. I don't think Fournette has any of those issues.
I also agree. 87 has been very reasonable and honest with his assessments of Henry.

What I see with him is a guy that is impossible to bring down once he gets in the open field and has a head of steam, I mean impossible. But when he is in the backfield or just past the line of scrimmage, he seems a little upright and extremely easy to bring down. This seems more troublesome to me in the NFL then it is in college.
This exactly. His problem will be making it past that 5-yard buffer in the NFL. He'll be able to do some things in the NFL, but I'll be very surprised if he's a difference maker at the position.

I agree - I think his probable role is part of a rotational system in which he gets 10-15 carries a game and perhaps is used as the battering ram at the end of games. He'd be great as one of the guys in a system like New England where he they are throw first and he pops a run here and there.

4.52 is pretty damn fast for someone his size.

Yep - anyone who thinks he is slow hasn't really watched him play

He is a football player that has absolutely perfect freak measurables for a modern day pass rushing DE/LB. I think he would have been HOF material. I mean did you see how fast his first 10 yard split was? Dude was made to get to the QB

Most of his long runs were when there wasn't any 2nd level defenders.
Who plays without those???

I was reading an article from 20 something talking head last night that was saying Henry was slow, fat, golly he's up to 245 pounds..he's always been 245. He's plenty fast enough that nobody ever caught him from behind. Don't even start on how strong he is.
People don't know what hell they are talking about. Most of these "bloggers" now are so bad I wouldn't even call them hacks. The NFL scouts like what they see. That's probably a better gauge.

However, myself, and most other people, dont believe he is that special of a back
And after the LSU game you said the Fornette would still win the Heisman and Henry wouldn't be invited.
Just admit you are a full of shite hater and go away. Your opinion on Henry is worthless.

The one thing that could really elevate his effectiveness is if he demonstrates a good ability to catch the ball.
He looked like he had good hands at Bama but he didn't get enough chances to really make a solid judgement. If he turns out to be a guy that can get half a dozen catches in open space to go along with 15 or so carries then his ability to impact a game really increases.

Speed is not Henry's problem with NFL scouts. They see someone who runs upright on any initial run (watch him run the 40). Most sprinters are not fully upright until 7-10 steps. It is the main reason he has so many runs for 2 yards or less. Once he get in stride, his long legs make up for the first 5 yards. In the pro game, it doesn't equate to their feature backs.

Why are you responding to me?

The heaviest RB that ran faster is 220 pounds, 27 less than Henry.
I want to see what the fastest 40 is of any player over 240 pounds is regardless of position.
