OL talent wasn't Grubb's problem; execution was. The guard play was just pitiful on a historic level. A new OL coach later, we shall see. But the game within the game for BAMA fans this season will be along the offensive LOS.

- I will never understand talking down about a coach that annihilated your own team (LSU) every time they have played. Can you at least keep it under a double digit loss just once?
Any rational fan would gladly take those results in year 2 of any HC’s tenure at any program.
CKD’s offense MUST have an elite vertical passing game to be successful. His offenses led FBS at 3 different programs in downfield efficiency. I know the lack of a run game gets all the headlines, but defenses having to play 2-high/split safety coverage at all times bc of the vertical threat makes running the ball a lot easier. Ty lacked the ability to throw vertically for whatever reason (4 completions of 40 yards+ the entire season). For comparison, at UW they completed 7 passes of 40+ in a single game vs Oregon. Look for Keelon Russell to be a breakout player this year in the SEC.

Well, we had Brian Kelly and Joe Sloan leading our offenses then, now we have Lane, Weis, and Kevin Smith, I'm sure rational football people would prefer Lane's offense to KD's

Yes, the DeBoer honeymoon is over. From a fan perspective I accept the rebuild and the 8 losses. What I don’t accept is the Indiana loss like it happened. If I was a mighty Georgia Bulldog fan, I’d really be worried about playing a young Bama team very hungry, disrespected, and who is actually as talented as any team out there.
I think Bamas future is very bright with Coach Deboer. He will field a team this year that no one really should want to play.

I mean their NIL valuation and spending is up there with the other teams and their schedule is easier than it was last season
That said, their defense, like in 2024, had lapses and struggled with the pass rush and ultimately got their teeth kicked in by UGA and Indiana to close the season out - Ty and defense-caused turnovers late really saved them in a ton of games throughout the year
Offense, Ryan Grubb's their OC, the dude's out of the NFL because he made the Seahawks one of the worst rushing teams in the league. He goes to Bama and makes them the 2nd or 3rd worst rushing team in the SEC if not the entire country. That's just his offense, I doubt it improves substantially, QB play should still be effective though.

I mean every game in this conference, sans maybe Mississippi State, Tennessee, and maybe Vanderbilt in a "rebuilding year," will be absolute wars for every team, can't put that much stock in a single game anymore like you could back in the day

How many times has BAMA put at least 40 points on Georgia? Those aren't defensive lapses? Defense just wasn't it last season. You run, you control the sticks, and you control TOP and field position. Being physical enough to do those simple, fundamental things completely changes down and distance and the red zone. A bonus it certainly changes defensive schemes on 3rd down. Like beating the hell out of your QB.

Fair point and I agree. If DeBoer doesn’t address the run issue and correct it by making the necessary changes DeBoer will be cutting his own throat with the fans. He addressed the run issue at Media Days. We’ll see.

- I said they could stretch the field vertically which CKD must be able to do to lighten the box to create a +1/+2.
- Why didn’t you respond to going 7-1 in the SEC and beating the same Georgia team in Athens?
- You discredit OU’s offense but fail to mention they were one of the best defenses in the country and tops in the SEC and Bama scored 34 on the road against them
- 10-2 against that schedule (8 ranked opponents) and 7-1 in the SEC in year 2 is solid however you want to spin it
- Mack is on the roster bc most coaches prefer to have more than 1 scholarship QB so that if the starter gets injured there is another human to play the position
- Your response to getting humiliated 42-6 in Tiger Stadium is to say “yeah but we fired the coach and now we have a better one”. That’s weak af.
You hope Lane does better than 9-3, but until he does the team you root for is no different than the 19 other programs hoping for improvement under a new HC.
If there is one program I would keep my mouth shut about (out of embarrassment) if I was an LSU fan, it would be Alabama. Instead half the fanbase enjoy seeing Bama lose more than LSU winning.
Maybe Lane does better than BK, maybe not, only time will tell. What I do know is that he’s the same guy who bailed on Bama the week of the Natty, left in the middle night at Tennessee, got left on the tarmac at USC (his “dream job”), then bailed in Ole Miss with the Playoffs about to begin. I don’t want to criticize his personal life, but let’s just say it mirrors his track record as a HC.
Until LSU actually beats Alabama in the sport of football, I would keep my mouth shut, but I don’t have the PTSD that unfortunately so many of you LSU fans suffer from. I honestly hope you guys can heal one day. I mean that sincerely even though I’m sure it comes across as sarcastic.
