SEC Baseball
@SECbaseball

The past few weeks, @d1baseball has been doing its Top 100 Programs list, one of my favorite bits of offseason content we get every couple of years.

The full list is officially out. 15 SEC teams made the cut, and the league accounts for 11 of the top 14 programs in the sport.

Note: This graph only plots teams in the top 100 programs list. Each league has team(s) off the list as well.

Question by a fan:

Do you know how it’s weighted? Meaning what’s carrying more the past 5 years (2022-2026) vs future outlook? Seems some are varied on what is getting more weight.

Answer by SEC Baseball:

Emphasis on the last 5-10 but mainly as a look toward the future!

One spot ahead of South Carolina.

That’s gonna burn up GamecockUltimate.

We will probably never be an SEC powerhouse, but I don't understand how Mizzou baseball is this bad. Sort of reminds me of the way Mizzou treated football during the 80s and 90s - basically forgot it existed and made crappy hires.

I’m all in on the Mizzou hate, but it feels like they left them off 50-100 just to say they were fair. Has Mizzou really fallen to the point their program is worse off than Penn, Creighton, Lamar or Mercer?

Ole Miss lost too many arms this off-season for me to think that we will be as good as we have been the past 2 seasons.

Vols all time CWS appearances 7. Florida all time CWS appearances 14. 100% rage bait, trying to get clicks. Oregon State is too low. FSU is probably too low. But, whatever

I think we will be fine. Mangrum has done a good job of developing pitchers. You have big game Hunter and the rest will work its way out. Hooks on the back in and plenty of upside young guys coming back.

More hit for AVG guys this year with JUD and Furn coming back. They should be a better team than last year.

Clearly this is a recency bias list. They have UCSB and Cal Poly ahead of U$C.

It says clearly in the post that it is 100% recency weighted plus forward looking.

They will play with a different style than the last few years. Not as much swing and miss type offense.
