Record vs ranked teams is intended you see how a team does against quality competition. Game time rankings tell you nothing. A team can be top 25 one week, not top 25 the next week, and then top 25 the week after that, and then not the week after that. A team can be top 5 to start the season and end unranked. Records against game time rankings is garbage data used to fluff up stats.

Elko is 4-4 at TAMU by my count. That's what counts for me. There are other coaches that have records at inferior schools before they became coaches at their current SEC schools.

Elko was 1-4 at Duke, where he took over a historically bad program (5-18 in prior 2 years) and immediately built them into a bowl team in yr 1 (9-4).
5-4 record at A&M, where the program wasn't in a great place with Fisher. Paying a guy $75 Million to please leave, says it all.
